Bay Area, CA stores that may carry Osprey or other commute packs?
I'm hoping to take a look at the two Osprey packs to see which size I'd want and preferably see a few other packs. REI site only shows their pack and a few others in stock but not the Osprey packs.
Anyone have a recommendation for a store I can check these out at locally before I order something?
Thanks!

I've seen Ospray backpacks at the Seattle REI - and dozens of other brands, too. It might be worth stopping in for a look around, if they're near you.

I would check out Mel Cottons in San Jose (at Race St. and Santa Clara, I think). Failing that, the REI in Mountain View has an excellent selection of Osprey packs, as does the one in Redwood City. The Saratoga store usually doesn't seem to be as well stocked and the staff seem pretty clueless there for some reason. More high school and college age staff, I guess. Give them a call before you go so you don't waste a trip.

You can get thing shipped to the REI store for free and if you don't like it they'll take it back. Their website shows a lot of Osprey packs though mostly not in the cycling area. The Novara commuter backpack is nice, BTW.

You said you'd also look at other commute bags. You owe it to yourself to check out Mission Workshop bags -- nothing comes close to how useful these bags are. The company is headquartered near 16th and Mission and has a great shop there.

I was looking at the Vandal myself, but reports tell me that I am too short for it. It will hit my helmet when I ride. Too bad, it looks like one mean bag. I will have to make it over to the store and check it out for myself one of these days.

I'm 5' 4" and use a Rambler. Both sizes fit me fine, but the Rambler holds a ton when opened up and is more manageable when in its smaller mode. While short, I do have a long torso (long enough that some of my bikes are 54 cm, even though my legs are more 50-52 cm sized, and I tend to fit a large in backpacks), so you may have a different experience. My wife, who is much taller than me but with a short torso, couldn't find a bag of theirs she felt good with. They say that they will be coming out with something for smaller torso folks but that's all I've heard.
