Fixie commuting wheels.

I'm building a fixed gear commuter and I am looking for the best possible wheelset under$300. Any help?

Not much help on the bike knowledge, but been commuting for a few weeks on fixed gear myself and love it. I really recomend a front brake. My poor geared commuter has seen very little use since I put together the fixed gear, only if I have to carry much of a load.

I have Deep Vs on mine. I think I paid around $200-ish shipped from velomine.com I don't know if they're 'the best possible" but they work fine for me. Never had any issues and they look nice IMO.

IRO house brand; around $150 if you have them built up. Less than $100 if you go the route I did and build 'em yourself.

Cold Fusion rims = $30/pair
IRO high flange hubs = $40/pair
DT Champion 2.0 silver spokes = $45/box 100

For commuting I would suggest:
Rims: anything semi-aero and > 22mm deep
Hubs: nothing wrong with your basic Formula hubs
Spokes: anything 14 gauge unbutted in the rear
