Returning to the Schwalbe fold in mid-July, ranting and rambling to follow.

See you then.................

Are you saying you *left* Schwalbe?
We had wondered why we hadn't been seeing posts from you.

Have been playing stay-at-home dad since November. That gig is coming to an end (we have a new nanny starting), so it's back to work.

I'll wait until your back on the clock before seeking input on some bombproof 26x1.5...

Kojak 05-29-11 11:01 PM

Bombproof irrespective of ride quality? Unless something drastic has happened in the marketplace in my 8 month absence, the Marathon Plus is likely the most bombproof tire on the market. It's not exactly a supple tire but that's the trade-off when bombproof is the most desired characteristic.

wore out my first set of Schwalbes Marathon plus, just got the Dupremes.. amazing.... I thinking about not carrying a pump, no flats on the Marathons...am I tempting fate? Mike

Well, yes.

Great tires they are, but even great tires can take a hit. Unless your municipality sends out the streetsweeper nightly, I'd still carry a pump and a tube (or patch kit).

He posted a 'farewell for now' message. I saw it.

Yup, I remember that too. Welcome back. Although, I'd probably prefer to stay home than go back to work :D

Welcome back, man. Looking forward to said rants.

I got Panaracer RiBMos in that size. 760mi, and so far, so good, no flats. Second choice would have been the standard Schwalbe Marathons, but the Panaracers got the nod due to weight comparison. If I get some non-freak flat before the rear is near completely bald, I'll switch back to Marathons.

Funny thing is, most of the flats my shop has fixed in the last two weeks were caused by little pieces of shed streetsweeper bristles.

Glad you're back Kojak, if only every company in the industry had reps like you.
