Seatpost Fail

Either I reached the fatigue strength of my seatpost or my bike is telling me to lose weight. Or both.
Made the final 9 miles of my commute standing.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=204532 |
I think they use cheap bolts on most seat posts like grade 3 or 5, I've snapped one using my seat bag multitool. When you buy a new post go to a hardware store and replace the bolt with a better one.

I swear by Thomson seat posts. Very easy to set-up and adjust, beautifully made, very light, and strong!

I'm not going to complain too much about the quality of the seatpost. It did have between 15 and 20k miles on it. Should have just replaced it when I had to shim the seat rails to prevent squeaking of the rail clamps. Makes me wonder if I should also replace the handlebars which are also original.

Al four of my bikes have Thomsons. I like never having to worry about a component. |
