I made it!
A few weeks ago I made a post about riding to see my friends almost the distance of my commute (13 miles to where I was going). I've done that a few more times, and set everything up so today I could make the 2 extra miles and see how the 15 mile commute felt. I left around 6 and, with a longer than normal break (I forgot deodorant, had to stop and get some), I got to work at 7:20. 40 minutes to cool down, which was great.
On the way there it was great. Since it was so early it was nice and cool (around 65), and I left early so I could take it at a relaxed pace. Riding in I was barely sweating, which for me is quite the feat (I break into a sweat just sitting around). The way home was a bit hotter (85) and I went through both my water bottles by the end of it. On the last mile or so (which thankfully is a quiet road with a large shoulder that I ride on) I could feel myself getting exhausted. Got in, showered, and here I am 30 miles more under my belt (and saving about 7 dollars in gas!)
Unfortunately I can't do it every day or believe me I would. But I'm gonna try for twice a week over the summer. It's really the ride in I was worried about because I don't care what condition I'm in getting home in the afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised.
