VO constructeur front rack panniers?

Fellow commuters/shoppers,

I installed this rack on my bike a few weeks ago with the intention of getting some weight off of my back wheel. The old description of this rack

http://store.velo-orange.com/index.p...ront-rack.html

mentioned that it could be used with small panniers. I suppose small means something between 12 and 15 liters on each side. I've looked all over and can't find anything small except for some 12-liter shoulder bags with rack hooks, which is not really what I have in mind: Like these http://www.cb-asahi.co.jp/item/05/00...174600005.html.

I would like real panniers, but am at a loss. Should I give up the search and make them myself, say from small back/ruck sacks? If any readers of this post know of where I might find small panniers, please give me a name or a brand. Other suggestions also welcome.

Carradice CarraDry front panniers come at a listed volume of 10 litres each (they're sold in pairs). That's about the smallest I've come across. Their other front panniers are about 28-30 litres per pair, so they might fit the bill too.

Thanks Juha, that looks very promising.

I might add I have used their saddle bag (Camper Longflap IIRC) for quite some time now. The product quality is excellent, and the cotton duck material is surprisingly weatherproof.

Come to think of it, I believe it's the single one piece of bike gear I own that has received the stamp of Spousal Approval, instead of the usual stamp of Damn Ugly (But Functional). Not an easy feat. :)

Lone Peak P099's look like they'd fit that rack perfectly. They're about an inch wider than the rack but the hooks are an inch or two in from the sides. If you like them you can call Wayne at the touringstore, he ought to be able to let you know for sure about the fit. I bought a Tubus rack and a pair of P150s from him, he helped me with the fit over my disc brakes and my rack/bag compatability. Wayne's great.

I've mounted Ortlieb front rollers/packers on the Velo-Orange precursor to that rack, should fit. You have to move the clips almost all the way inward.
