First commute, 18.5 miles one way

It was a pretty smooth ride aside from all the traffic lights. Took me longer then I expected at just under 2 hours. Not sure how tonights return ride will do. Dreading my apartment on the third floor....

Will update post return ride with more since I am at work now.

Awesome, good luck. I started my 15mile one way commute about 2 months ago, so far it has only gotten better.

Where in Florida are you?

Very nice. 18.5 miles is a perfect commuting distance I think! Just long enough to get a decent workout, but not so long that it's tedious.

Glad you in the long distance bike commute. I go 20 miles each way. Once you are used to it, you will look forward to it.

I take it you are already in biking shape and just decided to extend to commuting. Anyway, a stalwart first commute... Good luck, keep it up!

Located in Fort Lauderdale, fl. I used to own an old school stem shifting road bike that I would do weekend 15-20 mile rides down @ Key Biscayne in Miami. It was a funny situation because I bought this Cannondale H400 off craigslist, put new tires, tubes, lights, etc on it. Didn't plan to start today however turns out my truck battery died. Took that as a sign to jump start commuting, finished off the day logging just under 36 miles. The weather was actually pretty nice, overcast not to sunny, humidity but with a breeze. Hoping my legs feel like new again tomorrow morning.

You'll get there.

Bravo! I'm anticipating an 18-to-20-mile commute to my workplace... Hopefully I'll get promoted to an overnight shift so I won't have to share the road with rush-hour drivers.

I just started commuting at the start of July, 13 miles round trip.
Though I'm glad it takes less than 30 minutes to get to work so I don't have to wake up too early, I find myself wanting a longer trip at the end of the day.

10-20 miles sounds perfect to me... I'll be searching for a scenic, roundabout way to get home soon to bring my miles up a bit closer to what you're putting in.
