What do you stash at work?
I have my own desk and personal area behind it to stash whatever stuff I want. I kind of moved in.
I keep a tote bag with of a set of clothes in case I forget something someday. I keep a comb, toothbrush/toothpaste, extra set of eyeglasses/contacts. A washcloth and hand towel. I run a mile on my 1/2 hr break so I keep a set of shoes here for that. I bring my lunch most day and I also have a good food stash here. Aside from condiments and bread in the fridge/freezer I have non-perishables stashed here: a few cans of Progresso soup (in case I forget lunch sometimes), a package of fig bars, clif bars, tuna packs. I have powdered drink mixes (ice tea, gatorade, hot chocolate) and tea bags. Also have dishes like my coffee mug, a giant mug good for heating soups, plate and utensils. |
People always laugh at me when they come to my desk because I always have like 3 or 4 pairs of shoes and a pair of flip flops for the showers plus my bike clothes on hangers... If I had a car on cinder blocks it would be perfect lol.

In my locker I keep stashed
On Mondays I add to it
In the fridge I keep
In the medicine cabinet of the staff men's room I keep
|
Pair of pants and a backup shirt in the cabinet.
Stick deodorant, toothbrush/paste/floss in desk Couple cans of Progresso soups, couple pouches of tuna + condiment packs (mayo, salsa, relish) to make tuna salad. Sometimes a row of saltines, sometimes a pack of pita as a tuna delivery system. Large coffee cup for soup. Small coffee cup for bev's. Teabags, home-ground coffee and an insulated French Press. Desk fan for cooling and accelerating clothes drying. 1 patch kit, 2 CO2 carts, a folding set of metric Allen wrenches, small bottle of chain lube. They'll need to warn me the day before they fire me, because I'll need to drive in to carry all that crap home. |
Just a big U lock and 8ft cable.
|
Toiletries: Toothbrush, face wash, action wipes
Food: Cans of soup (mostly Progresso), pile of granola bars, tuna salad packs, some rolls of bread in the freezer Clothes: Extra shoes, a couple t shirts, sweater Misc: Yoga mat, phone charger, large freezer bags (my feet get really smelly, especially in the summer time, and if I don't bag up my shoes and socks then it stinks up our entire warehouse) I feel like there's more but I can't think of them right now. The lame part is that I don't work a desk job, and my work doesn't have any amenities like lockers or cubby space for employees, so I have all this stuff stashed randomly around the store. Every so often a coworker will find a stash and prank me. I'm running out of ways to explain that it's not funny. |
A floor pump which my coworker seem to use for his tube more than I have.
Two MS battery charger. USB charger for my Contour HD Two DX 18650 battery charger Some misc bike tools A Continental Ultra 700x25 tire A extra MS 900 headlight Suntan lotion Hair dryer Some spare cash Full set of spare clothing in case the transit or bike fails and my backup plan is to stay overnight at my Mom's house who's not too far from work. |
Complete set of spare clothes, including a suit and tie
Shoes Belt washcloth and towel deodorant Febreeze toothbrush loose change bike cover (for crappy days when I can't bring the bike in for some reason) lunch/breakfast stuff coffee cup soup/salad bowl reading glasses :o life size poster of Lance Armstrong borking a monkey...doggie style |
Stuff kept at work and used everyday: shoes, belt, comb, work keyring.
Stuff kept at work "just in case": pants, shirt, socks, underwear, towel. |
Shoes, some food, hex keys, a small LED flashlight, and a midget who makes espresso.
|
Personal items relevant to my commute that I keep at my office:
I have free access to water, coffee and chips in the office, so in case I forget my lunch between the office kitchen and my food stash I can cobble something together so that I don't starve. |
I just keep two pair of shoes (black and brown) and toothbrush and toothpaste. I don't want to haul shoes in everyday. I dress business casual everyday for work, but I carry clean clothes with me each day.
I probably should have a spare belt, underwear, and socks as those are most likely to be forgotten. I have forgotten the underwear once. Going commando feels weird, but nobody knew. |
Three pairs of shoes: black, brown and sneakers (Fridays are casual day.)
A spare pair of underwear. My food for the week (I haul it all on Monday so I don't have to worry about it the rest of the week.) A towel. Everything else in my desk I would keep there regardless of how I commute. |
Black shoes (there is no other color)
Diet Coke Granola Bars Bike lock stays on the rack in the parking garage I bring lunch with me most days - if I don't have the food here, I won't eat it. Part of my weight loss system. In an emergency, there are many stores near the office. |
I work in a warehouse and I don't 'kit up' to ride, so the dress code is lax compared to most here. I do keep in one locker:
-Clothes: jeans, shorts, socks, underwear, a t-shirt, and I think a pair of khaki's. -Personal care: towel, deodorant, toothbrush and travel sized toothpaste. -Food stuff: plate, bowl, and a spoon. Also a package of instant oatmeal and a cup of soup (Ramen) reserved for emergency use. I keep a pair of sneakers stashed in the entertainment center in the break room. My hat and man purse goes into another locker. Everyone at work but me drives, so I don't have the option of keeping my junk in my trunk... |
my locker was always empty at work...lol You guys make me feel so unfreakin prepared haha
|
My locker is right next to my department so it's very easy to access to it. I usually have my sackpack with air pump and cell phone inside it. And if it's cold or chilly then I'll store my hoodie there too. Then I have my water bottle or a few soda cans in there since I don't use the vending machine. Plus, the drinks in the vending machines are overpriced. Finally, I stash about 4-5 single dollar bills there for lunch since whenever I ride my bike to work I don't bring my wallet.
- Sackpack - Air pump - Cell phone - Water bottle - Soda cans - One dollar bills - Hoodie/jacket (occasionally) |
shoes
soap towel lock that's all |
Grooming kit
Towel Deodorant Cologne My company maintains shower and locker facilities for employees. They also provide my work clothes. |
On Mondays I bring in a weeks worth of clothes and food on my 'mule' commuter. Rack and panniers. The rest of the week I ride my fg w/a seatpost rack/trunkbag combo. My daily work clothes and empty food containers are brought home each evening. Extra food includes limes, yogurt, Clif bars and apples that I replenish from time to time. Deo, toothpaste and brush, floss, towel, facecloth and bar soap.

If we weren't so energy conscience I'd love to stock a small fridge, but for now I use the community one. I usually just take home everything I ride in with, although some days it's not possible to haul a lot of junk. Depends on my level of paranoia on a given day since I'm not the only person with a key to my office. Someone went in one time and got freaky with one of my jerseys...smelled like cheap perfume when I got dressed for the ride home. :twitchy:
There is a box of small bike parts, packaging and other discarded gear on my desk. It's ever-growing from purchases made during lunch breaks and will probably be there for awhile. I recently pulled an old pair of red (now a faaaaabulous shade of pink due to sun fading) riding gloves out to fill in for a day. |
I have everything I need, from shoes to deoderant, to make it two days without carrying anything in on my bike, and a floor pump. And I also carry everything in on my bike everyday. I think next week I will ride my road bike a couple of days and rotate my stock.

No locker for me, but I keep a big stash of clothes, food and other supplies in my office. I replenish on days that I drive and take home laundry. For clothes, I keep at least 2 pairs of pants, shoes, belt, and a bunch of t-shirts, dress shirts, polos, and underwear. Also towels, bath supplies. In my fridge, I keep yogurt, fruit, diet drinks, water, coffee creamer, cheese and my lunch for the day. On shelves and in drawers, I keep a stash of foods that don't need refrigeration - granola bars, nuts, canned soup, Wheat Thins, oatmeal, chocolate bars, etc.
I usually end up driving for one reason or another 1-2 days/week, so I often swing by Target on those days and pick up more food and drinks. I bring fresh clothes to work on those days and take home laundry. Also run other errands. With this sort of system, I really don't need to carry that much gear on my bike each day -- mainly tools and tire changing gear, wallet, cell phone, water, underwear and lunch. All this easily fits in a large seat bag. I wouldn't enjoy commuting as much if I had to lug panniers filled with clothes and gear every day. |
