coaster break

I was reading bicyclingtimes magazine and I see that a 2speed hub with coaster breaks are now available. would these be good for making a fied gear bike? or are they more for bmx style bikes.

I though it would be great to build a bike like a road style with drop down bars and a coaster break.

I'm new to this site and I just bought my first fixed gear bke, I usr the free wheel at 50 I;m not brave to use fixed. It's a se drast lite, I have bough a sram crank and campy break s to replace the ones on the bike.also i changed the handle bars to bull horn style.

I just love the single speed of riding, bu I still have bikes with gears and a road bike.

anyhow have a great day

A brake is the device that slows down a bicycle.
Anyway, a coaster brake would be incompatible with a fixed gear hub.
I understand that there have been conversions of 2 speed coaster brake hubs into 2 speed fixed gear hubs. No brake.
You might ask about 2 speed hubs in the Singlespeed & Fixed Gear forum here at BF.

As far as I know, it is impossible to use a coaster brake on a fixed gear bike, since fixed gear bikes don't coast.

I've heard of taking 3 speed hubs and making them 2 speed fixed, but I haven't heard of 2 speed hubs made into fixed gears. Could be interesting.

Anyway if you want a multiple fixed gear bike, take a look at the Sturmey Archer S3X. Sturmey Archer also made a 2 speed fixed gear, but that was a long time ago and I have only once seen one for sale on eBay.
