Does anyone use Split Thump Oakley glasses?

I'm looking at a pair of (heavily discounted) Oakleys that have an mp3 player built in. Does anyone use these or any of the other styles they have made through the years? I am getting these from an Oakley store so they are brand new but i'm worried on how long the mp3 player will actually last.

Have you been through the snow/rain with them? Do you find yourself wishing you just had a regular mp3 player?

Just trying to make a good purchase to go along with the bike purchase that will happen Wednesday so I can get back riding.

You're kidding, right?

I've never spent as much as $20 for a pair of sunglasses. I lose or break them too often.

I'm also not a big fan of blocking one of my critical senses while riding. My ears help keep me alive. Why interfere with that?

Nope, I just use my iPod or iPhone for tunes. somethings are best not combined in case of breakage or loss...

I do like my oakley jawbones though...

Not at all. Have you seen them? You are able to wear one ear in and one ear out and you have a nice pair of glasses. The price tag is no where near what I would pay, its good to have friends.

You can run one in and one out and run the volume low enough to hear your surroundings. People where ear plugs that you use on the gun range, why not low volume ear phones?

That was my biggest worry. If the mp3 went south, i'd only have glasses and if the glasses went south it's back to no glasses and no mp3 other than my phone. The biggest thing was they look just fine style wise and no wires would be able to tangle up. I went with the Hijinx model instead of the mp3 model.

Actually looks like a decent product. The first thing that goes in these products are the earphone cables, so them being detachable (and therefore replaceable) should be a huge plus.

Headphones are illegal around here, so I use mini bluetooth speakers instead. Added bonus in terms of safety is that pedestrians look around to see what the hell is making that noise. Sometimes doesn't hurt to have bad taste in music.
