Would you show me your road bike flat bar cockpit set up?

I'm going to run flat bars for the commuter, and would love to see some set-ups to get some ideas on how I might set up the cockpit. I'm going to use thumb shifters, and some Ergon bar ends with bullhorns for extra positions for the hands (at least, that is my current plan).

Thanks!:thumb:

At work, so I don't have pics just yet, but I like Ergons without bullhorns & then a seperate bullhorn. I don't believe that the integrated Egrons have the ability to use rear view mirrors with them.

Went with the Cane Creek bar ends, Lizardskin grips, SLX shifters and brakes, bell and computer. Also have a Cygolite Expilion light not shown.

This was the set up on my Muirwoods 29er before I put drop bars on it.

Profile Design Boxer bar ends with LizardSkinds bar end grips
Mountain Mirrycle mirror
Deore XT M770 shifters
Avid Speed Dial SL brake levers
Incredibell
Cateye EL530 light
Trek Incite 11i computer

The bar ends were nice, but I eventually decided that I just prefer drop bars. I've since picked up some Deore M590 shifters which I find indistinguishable from the more expensive M770's. The Speed Dial levers convinced me that not all brake levers are the same -- easily worth the $20 I paid for them.

The mirror configuration is a little hard to see in this picture. It's actually positioned below the bars. I had tossed the mirror aside when I got the bar ends because its "normal" position is in the way when you use the bar ends, but then I saw a guy on the road with this setup. It works pretty well, though you sometimes need to move your elbow in or out a bit to get a good view of the mirror.

Not a good pic, but here is an ebay carbon bar and bar ends before she goes to a bullhorn.

I would if I had one, but my road bike doesn't have flat bars.

I commuted for ~3 years on an MTB pretty close to Andy_K's, but like the drops w/ cross levers even mo betta.

P.S. not so much for the drops, but for the multiple positions along the top and hoods.

Here's mine. Aerobars and bar-ends give me several different hand positions. Not to mention the benefits of the aerobars riding into the wind. The radio helps to pass the time on my daily commute. I prefer this radio vs. a smaller one and using ear buds. The light is a Romisen RC-N3 Q5. A wired Planet Bike Protege 9 computer that I really like. I've been riding like this for the past 13 years and I wouldn't really care to go back to drops.

If anyone out there is considering aerobars, go to ebay. You'll get em' alot cheaper.

Turn of the Century Norco MTB retrofitted with a Surly 1x1 fork, flat bars, and Ergon GC3s.

While not exactly "flat", there are enough similarities that it might be helpful:

Not exactly a road, but it's my flat bar cross/trail bike. It's got Tektro canti brakes, Bontrager stem and bars, and Shimano 660 shifters.

I picked up the bars, stem, shifters, and levers for $50 on e-bay... what a deal!

Here's my set up.
Still pondering just how I want to add a mirror.
