I looked at my Axiom trunk and it has velcro (so you can avoid that one). But, I think it's possible take a couple of flat bars of metal and drill holes in them then bolt them into place. I think the Axiom is a little cool though because it has a silver lining inside to keep food cool.

You must be referring to the Tailrider Expedition that has the waterproof, deployable side panniers that can be removed? Yep, seen it.

Upon further reflection, I don't need a huge trunk- I'll just fill it with more junk that'll adversely affect the riding dynamics. A large seat wedge should handle everything but the safety glasses/goggles, and I think a top tube/bento box or stem mounted bag should take care of those.
