Pelted by eggs

It's holloween. Just finished work. Its 9pm. Minding my own business. White van rolls by and I feel something thumped my back. Couldn't catch up to see the license plate. My back covered in yolk. Not a religious man but I prayed to God that whoever threw that gets their comeuppance.

What part of sacramento did it happen in? I grew up there and consider it very bike friendly.

Its near Howe and Alta Arden. Not exactly bike friendly and a little sketchy. But past 830p the traffic dies down alot. However the remaining motorists tends to be fast driving Neanderthals. The central city and the immediate neighborhoods offer great bike infrastructure. Even the newer cities like Rancho Cordova and Elk Grove have installed bike lanes. The Sac County Unincorporated areas however is stuck to the streets are for cars mode.

Thanks for the kind words and the puns. I've been a year round commuter and so far I've had an egg this year and a banana cream muffin last year.

I lived in Natomas for a year, maybe the area is an exception but I never saw anyone on a bike, despite bike lanes. I'd rather walk for an hour than pedal for 10m there, which I often did.

I believe that what comes around goes around. In my youth, I did things like throwing eggs and worse. I'm far from young now, and trust me when I say that it might take 25 years, but the world eventually evens itself out

That reminds me of a non cycling story that's similar.. a couple of friends and I were out on halloween as we had imbided, we chose to walk from friends house to friends house rather then drive.. anyhow as we were walking I heard a shout and heard eggs cracking around us, I felt a breeze from my trench coat and suddenly had an intact egg in my hand.. (I think it hit my trench blown back as I was walking and rolled into my hand!!!!!!). The kiddos had slown down enough so I simply threw it at the back window... the amount of angry screaming I heard was priceless.. kiddos didn't come back and hopefully the cops decided it might be worth talking to someone with an egg on their rear window will never know though.
