Neoprene socks advice please
Hello
I was looking at cabela's 2 oz neoprene socks as a tool for winter cycling. I would use them with rockports,,,, I wear a size 13 shoe, The socks are sized L (11 1/2-13) and XL (13 1/2-16). Wha do folks think? I guess the xl would allow for some wiggle room and an air buffer.

You best worry more about the size of your shoe, which is going to be more of a limiting factor than the socks. For the socks, if you intend on layering regular socks beneath them, opt for the larger size.

They have a wool lining now? I bought mine like 5 years ago...I guess I should check out their site again.

Sealskinz are socks and go inside the shoe. I haven't found them to my liking but it could be my local climate. I tend to use sandals and a couple layers of wool socks down to slightly below freezing (1 hour commute is my typical duration). Then I switch to regular insulated boots for the winter. The times I've used the Sealskinz I wounnd up feeling clammy/cold since they're impervious in both directions, even with an additional thin wool liner sock underneath.
+1 on the key point being shoe or boot size, be sure to buy a few sizes larger for whatever you'll be wearing in the cold so that there is plenty of room for the socks or sealskins, plus whatever air is in there with them. When you compress it all, the warmth will go away. I think you'd be more comfortable with a winter shoe a few sizes larger and a couple pair of wool socks, but you have to experiment with a lot of variety to find out what works for your rides in your climate.

Stretching the smaller size rubber socks, to fit those 13s, wont help circulation.
