I like it. He's going for Best of CL, though, and is a little obvious about it.

At least it's funny, he may get a buyer due to that. I saw a guy on CR listing the bike as in mint condition with no scratches on a bike built in the 80's...the pics he took showed a badly scratched up bike with large pieces of paint missing in addition to the thousands of large and small scratches!

Nice try, I don't think it'll work. Although they may be preoccupied with their nipples, Hipsters can see it has gears, and that the color of the rims don't even match the oury grips that aren't on the super narrow flat bars that it doesn't have.

I'm a hipster, albeit an old one, and I am deeply offended.

I think the point was to make fun of hipsters. Obviously, it's not a hipster bike and it's even priced rather modestly. Good for a non-hipster who's about to go off to college.

No one in "Portlandia" would be caught dead on that bike! Armisen would gag!

I'd maybe give him $50. Maybe.

Agreed. Kind of like the weird or controversial political ads that get picked up and shown on major news shows. That way they get far more coverage at no additional cost. Similarly, this CL ad gets emailed around and featured on blog and forum sites like this one (and presumably also ones local to Colorado Springs) therefore making it more likely that a potential buyer will see it.

Much better than the obsenity-laiden rant on our local CL the other day. Apparently too many "effin a-holes" (he was a bit more direct in his use of obsenities) had replied to his bicycle ads in the past so he was making sure they didn't respond to this one.

I dunno, but for $75 it looks almost like a brooks b17 on there...

Great ad though. Just had a newer (02ish) Univega disappear, I really liked the bike. Mine was new enough that I believe it was made by Raleigh (which has since discontinued the line).
