Yee haw!
I left about 10 minutes early because there was a big storm coming. It was dusky when I left and I could already see faint flashes and hear distant rumbles of thunder.
Fortunately I had a tail wind so I was riding as fast as I could comfortably maintain. I started getting rained on. Not steadily, but enough that I knew I had to push to keep ahead of it.
I got about 2 blocks from work, bottom of a hill, at a red light. I stopped, like a good boy, and about 15 seconds later it started raining pretty hard. "$%(* this", I said to myself, and I ran the light.
I went anaerobic up the hill and sailed into our building just as the skies were really opening up. Only got a little bit wet. Not soaked through.
All in all, a fun ride.

Last night: Awesome! First time I rode the entire 22 miles home on the folding bike. It cinally ocurred to me that I can take Little Red in on the train and then just ride her home. (The full non-bike/train commute is 44 miles RT.)
today: bike/train. Looks like we'll get some nasty rain later, this would be Little Red's maiden voyage in a rainstorm.
It's getting dark in the morning now. Must order the Minewt I've had my eye on.

I have a feeling that I'm gonna get wet this afternoon. The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms, but it was so humid this morning that I don't see how it can't rain. We had 4-6" of rain here last week from TS Hanna, and all of the water has to go somewhere. Much of it has evaporated and now it's up in the sky wanting to come down again.
Yesterday the high was about 90F but I sweated more than I have all summer, including some much hotter days. It is just that humid. Funny thing is that my commute time was very fast yesterday and this morning, so the humidity ain't slowing me down.

Pretty strong headwind at times but still a beautiful ride. One complete idiot right before I got to work. Looking forward to ride home.

This was the first autumnal ride of the year, weather-wise. It was 50 degrees and beautiful. I did it in short sleeves but next time I will wear some socks with my sandals.

Grrr...I get up at 5:00 so I went to bed at like 8:30 last night because I was super tired. I fell asleep okay, but kept waking up. Think I got about 4-5 hours of sleep. The ride woke me up but now that I'm at work, I feel like going to sleep again. Thank goodness for coffee.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms this morning, I thought I was going to make it in without getting wet, but about halfway in (6.5 mile commute), it started to rain. Stopped to put on the rain jacket and made it in under a light rain. Luckily I had thrown some spare clothes into the backpack just before setting out this morning, so a quick change at work and all is well. Good commute - I secretly enjoy the rain rides.

Boo dropsie day.
Got to work and when taking my bag off dropped the battery holder for my dinotte. Exploded 99cent piece of crap which I don't happen to have a spare for.
Dropped my astrale 8
No display and when I went to reset it it just shows garbage and dims. Hopefully the battery died when I dropped it.. yeah thats it!
3 bikes, 3 different tires sizes but I'll have to borrow the one off my utility bike when I get home.
The ride was good though. Was waiting to cross a highway at a long light and a car pulls up and yells "YOU THE MAN" after my initial shock i smiled and mumbled something. They said see you at work and sped off. Hmmm. I'm still not sure who it was. I know a whole two males in this building but apparantly everyone knows me by name now since I commute on a bike.

wow, it was a balmy 7C when i left this morning. Funny how warm that feels after starting out at 1C yesterday. The morning was gorgeous with misty fog and a spetacular sunrise. I did have to go through some heavy fog at one point which was a little nerve racking.

Ride home was great yesterday! This was one of those rare rides that left me, at its end, wishing I had a longer commute.
Today was completely overcast, and I did not need my sunglasses. Not that that would stop me from wearing them!
But as tarwheel says, we're probably going to get rained on on the way home.

I almost got taken out by an aggro cyclist yesterday. He boxed me in, then later after I passed him, almost clipped my front wheel as he swung from right to left to get around a car that turned right at the corner, less than 20' away. I caught and passed him again within two blocks, after which he dove into traffic, made a hard lane change, then caused two vehicles to slam on their brakes to avoid squishing him. I used to think that guys like that would get turned into street pizza, but in reality he'll live forever without so much as a scratch.
The ride in today was smooth and quick, especially after I added 40 psi to my tires...

didn't commute yesterday for various reasons. had extra gear with me this morning - a jar of sauce with the rest of my lunch in my Carradice, my backpack with my laptop and another TabletPC to drop off for a friend of mine so I was a little on the heavy side. Topping off the air in my front and as I am pumping, I heard a 'Pop!' and then 'sssssss'...stem break...grrrr.
quick change of the tube and very black hands (I never wash my bike) and I am on the road.
So very humid this morning! I was a sopping mess. Still waiting for the Forte Campus pedals back from performance for exchange - these stock pedals are KILLING me...gah!

I didn't ride today. I have an after-work appointment that will keep my tied up until almost 10:00 PM. I don't want to ride home that late.
This driving thing is becoming too common for me again. Unfortunately, I won't get to commute again this week. I'm traveling for business for the rest of the week. I'll be on a plane early tomorrow morning.
I love cycling.
I dislike driving.
I *hate* flying.

Was cool again this morning, and apparently it rained a bit before I rode in, as the roads were wet.Got my bike all sanded up and grimy. I need to buy them fancy brushes when I get paid this week.

Right as I started this morning it started to rain lightly, made it in and didn't abort even though it was a chore to get out of bed this morning. Another cyclist I passed aborted when the rain started coming in. 70F or so.

Great ride in this AM... Got into a school buses slipstream ( gotta be like 5 feet off of it ) for about 3 miles, bus had minimal stops and I was doing a good 30+ up a few of the larger hills on my commute. All the kids inside were cheering for me...
Caught a box truck later in the ride for a mile or so too.
Personal best commute time but I guess it doesn't count huh?
Ride home looks like good chances for torrential downpours with heavy headwinds, I guess you win some and lose some.

Last Friday I rode to work mid-morning and got on a plane to head to Montreal for a weekend race. I work more or less across the street from the airport, so I left my bike in my office and had my girlfriend meet me at the airport and take my luggage home. It almost made up for spending a weekend bikeless in one of the bikingest cities I've ever seen.
This morning was an awesome ride in, my best time yet at 21 minutes. That's four minutes better than my typical time on the Giant Cypress. Might be damp on the way home this afternoon. But then again, it might not.

Pretty good south wind this morning. I was going to do my Freeport/W. Sac loop but I forgot that the Freeport Bridge is closed for repair. So I rode south towards Courtland into the wind until 7:30, turned around and flew into downtown with the wind at my back. That's always fun.

Fast and disjunct. Trailer 3.5 yr old to her daycare via 7 yr old's school, then over to Y to sign them up for swim lessons, then back to school for coffee, then finally to work. Nice sunny day at least. Tonight, race out early to get 3.5 yr old, trailer her to Y for swimming, then after that up the hill for dinner and bed. I don't know what the kids will do.

Commute in yesterday was good, but a bit sore after missing last week. School is definitely back IN, but I made all of the left hand turns with the light! (yes, it's the little things) I'm sure I heard some kids s******ing at me in my hi vis jacket.
Ran into a really nice fellow commuter on the way in; he pulled up behind me and didn't make fun when I told him I was slow. He passed me as soon as the light turned green, but I knew that would happen.
Ride home was a little scary, since I had to leave about an hour later than expected. Still made it home before dark, though.
We'll see if I make it on Friday!

Went out to start the "spare" car to take it over to my office this morning to leave here so I can bike commute on the two days that I'm in the office & the battery was dead. I sometimes have to made client visits when I am in the office. ( So. had drive and it is a spectacular afternoon outside!
Once I have the spare car left here at the office, I can get on with my 5 day commute schedule:
Monday - 30 miles r/t (at client location)
Tuesday - 50 miles r/t (at my office)
Wednesday - 30 mile r/t (at client location)
Thursday - 50 miles r/t (at my office)
Friday - 30 miles r/t (at client location)
I hope to do the full 5 days next week!

not sure if this is the right place to ask but i want to commute to work. how do i find a proper route to work that isnt dangerous. for those familiar with philadelphia, im coming from the northeast and need to get to the KOP/norristown area. As of right now, it takes me 25 miles taking the highway. Not a clue how to find a nice route or how to get to the Schuylkill river trail from my house. any help would be great!
