Great cycling weather today, high of 65, low of 54. I also had a nice tailwind, so I felt very fast. On the way home I am expecting a headwind, which I get on a lot of days.

I had to take the bus this morning in light of the 50 MPH winds we are expecting here in Philadelphia. Cold and rainy I can handle. But getting blown into the side of a bus, not so much.

Coldest commute so far, temps in the mid-30s. Frost on the roofs. Very pleasant ride; I had just the right amount of layers- cycle briefs under track pants on the bottom, t-shirt, long-sleeve t-shirt and hoodie on top. Also wore full gloves for the the first time this season which probably made all the difference.

Had a close call this morning. Turning left from a left turn lane on a left turn arrow a cager in the opposite direction attempted the right turn at the same time. There's only one lane and although solid matter is mostly empty space, it is still highly improbable that we could occupy the same space simultaneously. I yelled 'hey' loud and started veering for the on-coming lane (didn't want to stop as there was a cager behind me too). The car stopped halfway in the lane so i could ride around. That was a really, really stupid move and i don't quite see how they thought they could pull it off.

South Florida, I am so jealous of people that live in paradise. Gators ever try to grab you while you are riding to work?

Seems I've forgotten how to dress for rain. Forgot the shoe covers so my socks are wet. My shirt is longer than the jacket so the uncovered bottom part is wet. And even the pit zips let some water in. I probably could've used the helmet cover too and gloves would've been nice since the rain made things a little chillier. Oh well, it's supposed to rain tomorrow too. I'll have the full spaceman suit on and maybe a trick or treat bag.

Ugh. Same here. Where's your commute? I go from Mount Airy to Center City (using the Lincoln Drive and Kelly Drive paths). The winds off the Schuylkill can be BRUTAL.

Still sick today, so I drove to work. Blech.

I have a morning job interview tomorrow, so I'll probably drive tomorrow also.

I hate driving... it reminds me that my car is in bad shape.

Craigslist is your friend. Pick up a backup bike for about $50 and you're on your way, even when your pride and joy is in the shop.

My main commuter is awaiting a new wheel to be delivered today, so I'm riding my '84 Nishiki with the bent frame. Fortunately I'll be able to give the old girl a proper send-off soon, as I picked up an '84 Schwinn yesterday on Craiglist for $10. The Schwinn needs a lot of work, but my Nishiki parts should drop right in.

Don't you know? Bicycles are really really slow; they only go about 4 or 5 miles per hour, max, so there's plenty of time to pull out in front of you.

As reported elsewhere, windy. And my legs are just beat, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Let me rephrase that: I KNOW what to do about it, I'm just not willing to do it. I should take a few days off, rest my legs, stretch, recover ....

felt really good today. Yesterday had problems in both ankles, not sure what I did to aggravate them. I actually had someone in a car give me the "thank you" wave for not cutting around them on the right when they were signalling to turn right (lots of stupid cyclists do this here, drives me nuts).

I had someone also honk at me yesterday. I turned to give them the glare, she gave me the sorry shrug and pointed at the car she was honking at. Fair enough. I still can't get over how well my ultra long commute is going. Only one real incident so far, which is outstanding.

There are two routes that I take to get home from work. The faster of the two takes me about 25 minutes. It's 7.5 miles right down the main street of my little town. Last night I decided to cut through the college and hit all the back roads. I don't know how many miles it is this way--I just started commuting--but I know the past several nights I've gotten home at 10:55 and last night I got home at 11:20. For the most part, I had the roads to myself. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

40F, foggy this am. Rode w/a herd of deer last night, freaky. I could have braked to stay behind them but I was going faster so just wanted to get in front rather than have them criss-crossing and slam into me.

23F and comfy.

I ride on a pitch black highway at 4:30 AM. Imagine my surprise today when I met someone walking along the highway. I'm not sure who was more surprised! We visited briefly with him mostly not believing I was there riding in those conditions.

I almost feel guilty posting about my near perfect riding conditions: 49F, calm, clear blue skies. Had two rides this morning: 1) shortened training ride at 7; rode home at 8:30 to have breakfast with the kids and then took them on the trailerbike to preschool. Fun, fun morning.

I ride every day across Grays Ferry Bridge; coming home this afternoon was _brutal_!!! side winds almost blowing me off the bridge, barely made it up over the bridge due to the nasty headwind! I hear there was snow in North Jersey

It was very cold today, but it was also my first winter ride, The ride home through Columbus will be 43 and cloudy, but "feels like" 38. This morning it was 33 and "felt like" 31. So I got a whopping 7 degrees in difference for the ride home. But I made it through that so this should be much easier.

Like everywhere else in the Eastern US, it was very cold and windy here in NC this morning. Fortunately I was able to go into work late because I have to work late tonight. So I was able to ride into work in the daylight for the first time in a while, but it was surprisingly cold and extremely windy. Even though I theoretically had a tail wind heading to work, in reality the wind was swirling and it made my ride much more difficult. The ride home tonight will be interesting -- in the dark and into the wind and very cold again.
