Wonderful ride in this morning. It was a lot warmer than anticipated, balmy, minus the rain that had been predicted. I was struggling a little after this weekend's hike, but latched on to a roadie and let him pull me most of the way in. I concentrated a little too much on his back wheel and missed most of the scenery I usually enjoy so much in the morning. I just heard that DC will be getting a "wintry mix" over the next couple of days, but if temps are at least in the 30's, I'm going to ride. It will give me a chance to try out my new rear fender.
Paul H: If this morning is any indication, then I think we're going to see a lot more commuters this summer than in summers past.

Horrible and nasty drizzly rain coupled with a head wind. To cap it all one of the main roads was closed. The other route had A lane restriction to take it down to 1 lane and a broken down car on the way up a hill So everything was at a complete standstill ahh poor car drivers (not!
)
In the end I managed to overtake all the cars including those pulled hard in to stop me coming up the inside. So it wasn't that bad a ride after all

Grey day today with a pretty strong headwind for most the route. Dressed more in my spring togs so I was a bit cold. Made up for that a bit with some vigorous spinning and had a pretty nice ride in. Felt pretty good for the typical Monday morning weariness.

Today was great. Had a zen moment where i was one with everything around me, and i just felt alive...kinda weird how these things happen when they do. Bright, sunny, 40 degree day, low wind, low traffic!

I feel like crap today. I think I'm coming down with something, could be the prolonged lack of sleep that goes with summer in Queensland. If I don't feel better tomorrow I'm taking the day off.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Chris. I hope that you're not getting sick. There's been rumours of a nasty cold / bronchitis around the place. I've been out for a week and still not 100%. Definitely take it easy and rest up! Take the time to read a good book or listen to some music

It's a very mild fever right now. In the past I've cured this with a 150km ride that I regularly do which involves a decent amount of climbing. That is not available tonight, but I'm heading out for a few km soon anyway. I want to know now whether I'm getting sick, because I've got a 4.30am CPA study session in the morning.

This is why I bike commute
We had half an inch to an inch of snow on the bike paths by the time I left this morning. It was 28F. Big, thick snow flakes were falling, making everything in the distance fade into white. My bike path through through woods and along a river was beautiful, and I was the first one out on most of it.
Last night I switched the Nokians back onto my Cross-Check, so I just cruised through the snow. This was one of my best 8-mile rides ever.

Added, 8:45 a.m.:
It's 8:45 and very few of the car commuters made it in. More proof that bikes are more reliable than the steel coffins.

No snow here in DC. It was 37 F / 3 C and very light rain. A pity, really -- even though I had swapped off the studded tires, I was hoping for one last snowstorm of the season.
The Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires provided a quiet, smooth ride. If they are as flat resistant as they are supposed to be, they could prove to be outstanding "non-winter" commuting tires.

Beautiful day today. At 7am it was 52 F or so, no wind, bright and sunny. Strange weather. Got up to 85 yesterday and is supposed to be 84 today. Is it really still winter? Lots of records falling around here. It's my second day on the bike. Looking forward to much more.

Much improved weather on the way home, bright, sunny and about 16 degrees C
To celebrate I decided to ride home the long way

Similar conditions today as yesterday but colder and stronger wind. Still beat driving, but the headwind was not much fun. I faced the headwind on the ride home last night as well, we shall see if I get it both ways again.

Had a good ride in this morning. It was pretty foggy. Visibility about 150 yards, but not bad enough to worry about. I did have to wipe my glasses a couple of times though. On the way back I was feeling good. There was a detour because of road work, which led me through a cool neighborhood I don't usually bike through. Filled with houses I could never afford, but fun to look at. Closer to home it started getting foggy again, but not as bad as in the morning.

A slushy wet ride home, yuck. Forecast said less than an inch, well we had 3 inches (D'oh, stupid weather man). Another soaked ride and I have fenders, how do I get wet, if I have fenders? The ride to work was wonderful, close to 40, and starting to cloud up by the time I hit work.

It was good to be back on the bike today after yesterday's travels. It was somewhat windy here, but unfortunately is set to get windier and wetter this week.
Cheers,

Great ride in this morning. Perfect weather, it almost makes you forget that soon it'll be 90F with 90% humidity and we will have smog alerts everyday.

A bit misty this morning but mild, mild enough not to wear the bib tights, just goes to show summer is on its way. The ride home was uneventful, though I have started extending the route by to gently start building up some stamina for longer runs in the summer
