Today I had my first commute in in the semi-wet. It wasn't raining, but it did rain earlier in the morning, and the roads were still wet. I don't have fenders on my recumbent, but all that happened was I got a little road spray on my bags. No big deal. Good fast ride though. Only one car got a little close to the curb and I had to squeeze by.

Nice, quick ride this morning. My new Power Grips came in, but I haven't had a chance to install them yet. Good luck on the house New Roadie!

Wow! Those ærial photos of the haboob are awesome.
I hoped to see the sunrise from my bike but 5 am proved to be just too late...
Warmer than yesterday but still jacket weather. I saw a flattened hedgehog on the ride home -probably due some kid on a moped.
I hope things turn out okay for your mother-in-law, RonH.

not nearly as fast a commute in as yesterday. I had a headwind coming in and it slowed me up pretty good. the last few days the traffic has been heavy enough at the time I ride in so that I can usually kind of blend in, but today I had a significant amount of cars passing me. no one passed too close so it was all good. one guy tried to pass me on the right then got back behind me and passed me on the left in the turn lane. a good, if slower-than-usual ride in.

of course on the way back that headwind turned into... another headwind. didn't do any extra riding, just headed home. took it really easy going up the big hill. the ride back was slow but still good.

Thanks vr.
We finally got home from the doctor, then ER, then the pharmacy about 8:50 PM. What a way to waste a day.
After yesterday I REALLY needed to ride today. And the ride was awesome.

My "normal" commute route is getting chewed up for repaving (that's actually a good thing, believe me), so I took the slightly longer ride home. A little windy, sure, but temp was good, so I just went down a gear and enjoyed the ride!

Back commuting after a 6 week gap. This job may last a while and is a half mile from where the wife works, 21 miles from home. We both start early in the morning so I drive her to my job with the bike on the car. She drops me off and goes to her work. At 3:15+PM I bike for home. The motorists have not gotten much better in the last 6 weeks. Saw 18 others riding; almost all of them in the last 3 miles.

Hey - I can post again! [dance of joy]

The ride home was in light-yet-consistent rain. It soaked my shants, and I was sweating up a storm in the jacket. Still, it was nice and warm out. Mmmm. Warm...

YAAAY!!!
WTFoo, was missin' all of you!

good ride all the way around today, mostly behaved cagers.
havin' a little knee ache, may be it's from trying to improve my pedal stroke.

Was darn hot here and dry, which is so weird this time of year in these parts.
Haven't had any need for my new fenders yet.

my waterproof rain pants . . . are not. on the other hand, my waterproof messenger bag . . . is. so it's all good, i guess.

didn't drive today. dunno why, really, except that i didn't feel like it, and it's not a baseball day so there's that whole just-cause-i-can-so-nyah-nyah impulse. good rides both ways, but i think they definitely put me over the edge and i'd better take the car for sure tomorrow. i think i did in one of my hips.

it was dark this morning when i set out (at almost 10 am), with a really neat slightly weird kind of overcast thing going on. i got to work dry, but not too long after that it set in to pour and just kept right on doing it till i left 10 hours later. and the rain pants did help. it rained hard all the way home, but again i was travelling in that neat brighter-than-you-think, can't-tell-where-it's-coming-from yellowish light that just can't help but make you feel like you've been sprung from some drab old routine. and it was warm. my right runner filled up with half an inch of water within the first k, and the left one caught up to it by the 2.5 mark. didn't drain out at all, so i rode home with my feet feeling like goldfish someone won at a fair. in spite of the wonky-body stuff i felt strong all the way, both ways. now eating a huge salad with feta cheese and piles of green crunchy stuff.

songs: happed in mist, michael marra; over the waterfall, michelle shocked; the bits i can do from the third movement of gorecki's 3rd again

Saw a new commuter yesterday on the ride home. He was riding his shiny road bike and wearing the full team kit. What alerted me to the fact that he was a new commuter was the brand new messenger bag. I think I saw the price tag dangling from the side of the bag.

Naturally he didn't acknowledge my nod since I was on my "ugly" commuter bike and wearing black bibs and plain yellow jersey.

I bet your thug tattoos didn't help.

Good ride this morning, fairly humid but I was up early so it didn't bother me much.

Rain! Ordinarily I wouldn't mind it so much, but I'm planning a cross country flight (student pilot) and this weather is just killing my plans, day after day.

On the upside, I can have a few beers later.

Now hitting "Submit" and crossing my fingers!

The commute home yesterday was wet, as expected. No matter, I thought ahead and wore a soccer jersey, which dried in about 5 minutes. Not so dry were my cotton shorts! Oh well.

A decent enough ride this morning, cool enough that I didn't sweat much. I'm worried about my right-hand disc brake though, the lever seems to be sticking. I'm not sure if it's the spring inside the brake caliper, or maybe the cable is rubbing on something. Hmmm, I'll check it out this weekend, I guess.

You got my attention with the soccer jersey statement. Which team? I'm am leaving for the WC in a few hours. Have tickets to Monday's US game. Sunday in Amsterdam square with my Dutch friends watching them vs Serbia.

Son and I will be riding the canals of Amsterdam before Sunday services in the red light district.
They have a World Cup Special where, for 50 Euros, the prostitutes wont use their hands.

Only saw one other commuter this morning.

Summer camp for kids is back at Emory U. I think I followed (and eventually passed) 6 golf carts as I went thru the campus this morning. Get out of the way you slow $&$#.

Finally got to wear my Lake sandals. Thanks for the suggestion Map tester.
Very comfortable --- and cool on the feet. Can't wait to see how they do on the ride home.

Rode in with my wife this morning. She's pretty fast, but she needs to work on her acceleration a bit. No trouble with cagers on the way in, despite some fairly aggressive riding in traffic.

The ride in was good. Overcast and cool. Two cagers squeezed in to the curb on me, so that I had to slow very quickly. I made it by though.
Had a good time listening to one of my newly added podcasts Pod Save The Queen.

Big time day on the bike yesterday: rode to work, rode from work to the bakery to pick up a cake for the office June birthday party, rode out to a tri workout (a brick, ugh), rode home. So yesterday was the gamut: commuter, errand runner, athlete, commuter.

Needless to say, my legs were a bit wooden this morning. So, I rode in on the old bomber nice and slow. That was nice.

good ride in the morning. left late but I was tired this morning so I decided to take it a little easy. until I got to PB Drive then went back to hammering. checked my mirror and saw a line of like 10 cars behind me so I decided to pull off at the next parking lot out of courtesy. good ride in.

rode to my parents house on the ride back. about 3 miles from campus. the ride there was great. the streets in my old neighborhood are still as rough and bumpy as ever. overall a good ride all around today though.

the weather has been great this week. 70's and 80's with mostly light wind.

The commute today was fun. But I sa something awesome when I turned the corner to get my bike. Parked at the next pole, was 2 high end Trek Mtbs. Full suspension. Weird seeing a High end trek at a high school. When they saw my Suteki they must of been Woah! A road bike! With clips! Sweet! Dude! I know it was something like that, because my bike was not touched. If they didnt like it, it wouldof been messed with. Its a code for highschool. But I dont follow it.

Good ride both ways. Pulled over for a fire truck, then hand signaled an onconming car to pull the heck over. Got a wave from one of the firemen that noticed it. These people don't even let emergency vehicles through...sigh. Stopped at a house down the street to check out a tadpole trike. They sure look fun.
