Yes, he is a collie/lab mutt mix. We are not exactly sure what mix he is since he was a stray that we adopted after he was hit by a car. Thankfully another driver stopped and took the dog to the vet hospital my gf works at.

Our dog is a collie/lab mix, all black, but more collie-looking than lab. Rescued from a shelter. She started out criminally insane, but now she's the sweetest dog. Kind of the best of both worlds. Lab temperament but smart as $*@& too, and a great puzzle solver. Be careful!

Getting back into my BF habit, so here's a brief report after a lenghty hiatus. Had a stupid fall on the way to work, detailed here. Then on the way home almost got t-boned by a taxi running a red. All in all, not the best day for commuting -- but almost getting t-boned by a taxi is better than getting t-boned by a taxi.

Have had a cold for three weeks and this morning my lungs decided not to work on the way in this morning. Not very fun. May possibly drive (eek!) tomorrow depending on how i feel.

I am a believer in full fenders now. I can't believe that I rode through two winters with those craptastic RaceBlades. Now I say "Give me full fenders or give me death!"
Anyway, I left about 6:45 in order to get a nice long detour in. I headed towards the college to get on the bike path, took it in a large counter-clockwise swing around town. I removed my gloves at one point, then my vest and skull cap. It is so hard to figure out what to wear in this weather. I think I may swing by the LBS and pick up a cycling cap. I figure it'll be just enough to keep some heat in and the visor will help keep rain off the glasses.

For two days in a row, I hauled Smokey, my 60-pound collie-sphephard mix to work. I usually bring him to work three days a week and take two days off. But now I'm trying to train for a 1-year tour, and he gets to kick back and enjoy the convertible ride everyday!
Here's a pic. Hey, how's that for cuteness level?

Nice and sunny. Wet roads. Unbelievable downpour last night coming home. My goretex gloves won't dry out for days, wore wool today. Definitely not windproof, but it wasn't really cold out anyway (40s). My shoes didn't dry out from last night either, although the insoles did (I always yank those anyway).

I pinched a nerve or something - weirdest thing - so I am having to take it easy for a day or so. Bummer.

Got tailgated going down the road outside my school, had to pull over to the left even though I wanted to make a turn right to let the ****er past then come out again and make my right turn... pyscho

Two H's!!! TWO!!!!!
My bike's dirty like hell today from yesterday's ride (rain, puddles, mud 'n stuff) and I don't feel like cleaning it up (it's gonna rain more this week).
It's the middle of December and it's warm like hell! Christmas lights + joggers in shorts = cognitive dissonance.

Ride home included a stop at CVS to look for battery powered Christmas lights. My local CVS didn't have 'em.
Noticed the cagers were acting super crazy going downtown. Good thing I was headed uptown.

The ride home was nice, low 60s (17C), so I donned my bibs, arm warmers, and vest. Ran into LOTS of Christmas shoppers in their ****ing cars as I got close to home.
I gotta find a way around that shopping mall.

Damn! Should have brought my camera to work today!
It's pretty bad here, but I hear that in Beijing yesterday they had their highest pollution rating EVER. Where a bad day back in Toronto would be about the equivalent of a 65 using Chinese air pollution indices, the AVERAGE in Beijing is 100. Yesterday, it went over 500, which is as high as the index goes. Scary.

Ride in was roaring rain. Yes, roaring. Ride home was nice enough to just wear shorts and a shortsleeve jersey. Nice.

by our standards, it's been an unusual winter so far. instead of our typical three months of 18/7 rain, it's been bunching up and releasing itself on us in clumps since november. wind warning, rain warning, snow warning, wind warning, rain warning, wind warning . . . i think i prefer it, actually.
today, again with the wind. it wasn't strong enough to bother me much, but apparently tomorrow will be another big day. i feel vindicated in the decision to keep my studded tires on, since the next thing in the lineup is (apparently) below-freezing temps. i figure that if they save me three times before spring, they're worth the extra effort involved.
christmas traffic seems like it's been fairly mild, so far.

The city is repaving most of the streets near where I work so last night and this morning it was like riding thru a war zone - lots of land mines, boulders, backhoes running all over the place and not watching for bike traffic. I doubt if anything other than a mtn bike or cyclocross could survive.
Other than that it was overcast (rained last night). The temps were the same as yesterday so I dressed the same. What a mistake. I was way overdressed. Had to stop and remove the arm warmers and gloves after 4 miles.
Supposed to be sunny and warm for the ride home.

Strained my back this morning so standing and walking hurts. Especially when I was climbing the stairs out of my apt. bldg. w/ my bike and backpack. Ride to work was fine except for the truck that did an unsignaled half U-turn to back up into a driveway. He swung left, then swung right as I was passing. I aimed for the shrinking gap and rode through. I don't think he cared that he almost took out a couple of cars while doing this maneuver let alone even seen me.

Excellent ride in. I managed to avoid the rain, which should hopefully clear out long before I need to ride home...the front will usher in a nice tail wind for me too, so that will be enjoyable. Might be my last commute of the year as I am off from 12/19-Jan 2nd.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all of you. Hoping that Santa brings you some nice titanium upgrades for your bikes.

Mmm. Titanium.
30+ MPH headwind (gusts) this morning, low 40Fs. I had to remove my gloves as my hands were overheating. Nice ride, otherwise.

Last nights ride home was terrible. About 47 F (that wasn't bad), a steady moderate rain (not bad), and wind in my face at about 20 mph (that was bad), with gusts upwards of 30mph (that was painful). Whew.....
Couldn't bike today since I need to run a bunch of errands to get ready for our vacation. Two weeks without biking (unless I rent one at Disney for like, 20 bucks a day).

Poor at best, darn cars and pedestrians kept on cutting me off, couldn't get into a rythem due to them for the first 3 miles.
