Warmer. About 39 degrees F. It's raining though. I'm just glad it's in double digits for once. I hope it keeps getting warmer.

As I was unlocking to go home, another cyclist locked at the same street sign slapped my saddle and said, "Fresh!", or at least I think that's what he said. Then another guy came up to me and asked me if I had bullhorns before (I swapped them out for narrow drops for better traffic squeezing). Then we got into a discussion about where to buy them, etc. After that, I rode home nice and easy and just enjoyed the ride after a long day at work.

I found about about these by clicking an ad for chainless bikes. I must admit it peaked my interest.

I'm hazarding a guess that you can't build up very high speeds with that "Dynamic street shaft drive."

Nevertheless, has anyone actually ridden one of these? I'm honestly curious.

EDIT: And I got a flat today and realized too late I'd brough an extra tube for a different bike. Silly me. So my commute was irritating.

A very good week @96miles in spite of weather. Arrived to work filthy every day due to wet roads. No worries with good rain gear and a change of clothes.

41F going in, 72F at 7PM going home. I could get used to this. Averaged 19 mph going home on the fixed gear. I'm commuting tomorrow on the geared bike to see how much commuting fixed has made a difference. I know I climb a lot better now. No problems with any motorists. I think everyone is in a good mood because of the weather. Here's hoping the good mood lasts a while.

warmer temperatures on Friday morning. the commute in was good but kind of slow since I had a headwind going in for once.

I got out in the afternoon and rode to the bike shop to see if my new tires were in yet. on the path I got stuck in a high gear going up a small hill by a ped who didn't know where he was going and I hear "get rid of those gears!" behind me and a fixie guy passes me on the left. I yelled back "too many hills!" my tires weren't in but I got some extra miles in so that was good. I thought I was unusually fast going home and couldn't put my finger on it until I remembered I had a tailwind going home for once. had to dodge a van full of college kids going the wrong way down a one way street on campus, pretty much right in front of a do not enter sign. college kids, they're can solve complex math equations and recite the great philosophies of our time but they can't read a do not enter sign. stopped by the student union to eat then headed home. great ride back!

oh, and the last leg home after leaving campus was my last night ride of the winter season, since daylight savings time started early this year.

Nice change riding home in the daylight. Fast both ways, with light traffic. Where was everyone?

Woke up 20 minutes late, still managed to get in (almost) on time. 35, light drizzle...which I take. The snow has annoyed me enough this year Daylight savings time keeps the first half of my trip in the dark, but the new light I bought for my helmet/head helped out.

Last night I switched out the studded tires for my skinny slicks and that made a huge difference. I could actually feel the speed coming from my bike this time. Of course, with them being harder (more PSI), I felt the bumps a bit more....

Nice and brisk this morning. I was tired due to the time change but also very happy that from here on out, I'll be riding home in the light (assuming my usual knock-off time of 6:30pm), since the evening commute is hairier than in the morning.
Legs a little sore from 15mi of singlespeed MTB'ing on Saturday, and a fast-ish road ride yesterday- can't help myself in this good weather!

I was not commuting last week [on vacation], but got a couple of half-decent road rides in. There were peds everywhere this morning, and now some cars are starting to take the same side-streets as I do. Boo-urns! I had bad dreams about zombies last night and couldn't sleep, so I'm punchy.

Left late this morning and had to deal w/ increased traffic and more peds crossing at the slightest break in traffic. Bombed past a couple groups of peds and zig-zagged around traffic going every which way. All that excitement and I'm still sleepy.

A very mellow ride in. I left early to get to work sooner than normal, but lollygagged enough that I arrived at just about the same time I always do.

My first ride in over six weeks! It is nice not to have to ride Metro with hundreds of my closest friends sharing a few square feet of space. Traffic is really light in the inner 'burbs at 6:45am.

Nice ride in. I rode my latest find. Its a Puch "Path Finder" I picked up on Saturday for $16 US. Old 10 spd made of Hi-tn steel with 27*1 1/4 wheels, center pull dia-compe brakes, and rides like butter.
It didn't make my ride any faster but I sure enjoyed the ride.

Congratulations! I only gets easier! That's a good distance, too, to get a decent workout. Keep it going!

I've never been able to figure this out, but the time change always seems to increase car traffic on my route by a factor of ten. Streets where I might normally see one or two cars suddenly have a line of five or six. Not surprisingly the fact that's it's darker out as well makes some cagers even dumber than usual, like the guy in the F-150 who nearly ran me over as he went to park for his morning Starbucks. He got a mighty middle finger and a hearty oath thrown in his direction and looked confused. On the way home heading up steep Texas St. I found an out-of-shape woman very slowly peddling uphill. I admired her pluck since I've seen young guys with nice bikes walking it. Never-the-less I had to fly by her because I'm slowly turning into a roadie jerk.

commuting has been sporadic, to say the least!

cranked 26 miles today (global warming has its positives = 60 deg F in march). felt good!
wind/sun on my back in return trip (no wind am, chilly start though) so was perfect!

been 3 weeks since bike commute, new mini-bus route to/from work using public transit that started in feb, '07. it's free, no $.

i can still get there quicker, as "relaxed" by bike, but hope to be mirror for others in their mass-transit
commutes. the bicycling example does not seem to be drawing a mass following!

Well this week should be my first full week of commuting since I have been battling bronchitis for the past 3 weeks.

THe ride in was great despite it being more uphill. It was around 32 degrees and for me that is shorts weather. The way home was even nicer with a temp around 70. However that was a headwind that killed me. It was one of those deceptive winds - looking out the office window it appeared to be calm but oh no. Anyway ... despite a lot of the way home being downhill it kicked my butt and I coughed up a lot of remaining gook. Can't wait to get that fit feeling again.

Did 10 miles more than usual today because of the great weather -- absolutely wonderful out there. Cool enough to keep you comfortable when you push yourself, but warm enough to wear light clothes. The warm weather brought out a people on the MUP -- lots of joggers, bladers, scooters, and walkers to navigate around -- the number of people on the must be up fivefold from last week. I kinda miss the solitude. I was even drafted by a rollerblader at one point during the commute. Also, a ton of ninja bikers tonight -- it must be people who hung it up for the winter -- but there were a ton of people decked in black or dark clothes challenging my HID's ability to illuminate them.
