Just a quarter mile today, from car shop to work. Glad I had my bike on the rack for that last push into the office. Hopefully they will fix the car, my wife will take it home (w/ her bike on the rack), and I will get my usual ride home.

Ah, it was a nice commute this morning! Nice weather, no wind for a change!!!! :D Took a longer route to stop by the grocery store to buy my lunch and snacks for the day.

It's nearly 90F in Burlington, Vermont. I may wilt on the ride home. :o

The commute home is going to be interesting today... It's started POURING, and I didn't have time to get my fenders back on after changing my tires. Fortunately, I have rain gear... we'll see what happens.

Won't stone, you, it's you who's missing out :) I just recently started the round trip after feeling out my new job (was taking the train in the mornings). I just love waking up in the mornings now...well maybe after a bowl of cereal and the news. But it's a vast improvement from the non riding mornings.

vtjim 06-20-07 05:54 AM

Hot ride home yesterday, but I had a tailwind to push me along. I seem to have passed dozens of cyclists. Maybe not dozens, but several.

Low 60s this morning. Started out in a light rain but that stopped about halfway to work. Didn't ride fast. Saw a couple riders going the other way. Passed one going my way. Sat at a red light across the street from another. Wrong-way sidewalk rider.

baskinrobbin 06-20-07 06:00 AM

Man, it was hot yesterday here in Raleigh, for some reason this morning the commute just seemed hard. Must be all that extra humidity

Tude 06-20-07 06:16 AM

WHOOT! Commute was excellent! Wish I didn't have to be inside either --- had a cold front go through that changed us from 85F and humid to having a ride in with 63F and not humidity - nice and clear and clean - so there's a little headwind ... but it's still nice!

HardyWeinberg 06-20-07 06:16 AM

Great ride home last night, really warm, summer might be getting here just in time for the days to start getting shorter. Car wasn't ready, so I just biked home, got the trailer, went back for the kids in their various directions. I forgot to put helmet and gloves into the car for when I dropped it off to bike to work. Wind in hair was great coming home, sweat in eyes when I slowed down for final approach through neighborhood, not so much. Got out the helmet and bandanna for kid retrieval.

A real nice ride this morning. 70 degrees and sunny. Looking forward to a tailwind on the ride home. :D

ModoVincere 06-20-07 06:34 AM

really nice ride in this morning. Only problem encountered was my cycle computer went out. I know I'm fast, but I did not hit 66 mph going up a hill  :D
Now the thing shows 16 miles on a ride that is 8.1 miles. Oh well, I guess I can take the old cateye computer off the wally world MTB when I get home tonight.

Good ol' Toronto drive-by storm - heck, it was mostly dry again a couple hours later :p

I hustled home after work as my evening ride partner preferred not to ride on the wet pavement. Rode home in a hurry to get my cleats fitted into my shoes, woo. Easy enough ride home, took Queen St. W to Sorauren for a more direct route.

Rode last night with clipless for the first time so I wasn't totally new at it for the commute this morning - ride into work was nice, still about the same speed but marked improvement on speed recovery, it's going to take a bit of getting used to and I'm still fumbling my clip-in a bit, but it'll come with practice I'm sure (within 5-10 minutes last night I had already forgotten and almost fell down when having to quickly stop at the Dundas/College/Lansdowne triangle of fun :p)

Totally weird feeling being connected to the bike like that, I actually had the feeling/desire to push back on my pedals when wanting to slow down - I've never ridden fixie (well, not since my old childhood bike 23+ years ago :p) - does this mean I should go fixed? :D

Awww, you're just being modest ;). Try to hit an even 70 mph today!

Yeah, it worked out pretty well. That said, I got pretty hot on the ride back home -- some rain would have been nice!

Nice ride in this morning -- about 16C -- beautiful weather. I love riding and not sweating like crazy. A bit of a headwind when riding West, but nothing too extreme.

Yes. :)

Ugh. Humid, no breeze, a few drops of rain here and there and heat and exhaust emanating off cars that looked like they'd been randomly scattered and left behind by a giant child. Was faster than yesterday, but I squeezed through at least two tight spots at intersections where the crossing traffic hadn't cleared the intersection and the cars in my direction were squeezing around them.

Last night I left a little later than usual and found my bike re-positioned so the rear wheel now stuck out in the street. The jackass that's locking up and hogging the spot probably did it. I may do the same to his bike when I leave today.

edit: Saw a commuter on a tall bike. Made me wonder what he did when he had to stop for traffic. Lean against a bus or truck?

Beautiful ride in this morning. Had some junk to carry so I utilized my newspaper bag (the boss got a couple of them from the Springfield State Journal Register a few years ago and I have glommed onto them). We took a slightly different route but it was the same distance and not any quicker.

Last night the older son and myself rode to and from the scout Troop meeting. Yep, a youngster in a scout uni on a BMX and an old fat dude on an ancient fixie. Understandably, the SWAT team was notified and put on red alert.

luckysnafu 06-20-07 08:37 AM

Was going to drive today, but ended up on my bike since the chance of rain is mostly this morning. Saw a few commuters this morning and got some waves. My cyclocomputer went nuts about halfway in, all the sudden I was going 41mph, then 77, then 21, then 54, etc. Did that the rest of the way in, I hope it works better on the way home, but it's not really that big a deal. After I get home I am flying up to New England for a long weekend :)

Itsjustb 06-20-07 08:40 AM

My "commute" today was to the doctor's office for a blood draw (cholesterol check) and back. I've decided to work from home.

This is a new doctor for me; for my first visit to him I rode there last week and it poured on me. Sure enough, I pull the bike out of the garage this morning and it starts to rain. I may need to switch doctors... ;)

Buglady 06-20-07 08:45 AM

Nice ride in today, a bit on the cool side (I had to stop and put my shell jacket on). My knees feel weirdly stiff so I think it was colder than I realized!

I suddenly noticed that I'm no longer out of breath when I arrive at work, and that I've stopped making any stops except when required by intersections. Not sure when that happened, but yay!

On the way home yesterday I think it was Turn Signals Optional Day. That was fun

Erick L 06-20-07 09:12 AM

Strong tailwind on the river path this morning, the kind I like.

My biggest fear came true: I got pooped on by a gull.

KingTermite 06-20-07 09:21 AM

Another great commuting day....I think I'm getting addicted to commuting. :)

It's like the burn in your legs after climbing a hill, soon it will start to feel *good*.

Nice ride in for me, trailering both kids in their respective (opposite) directions. After dropping Thing 2, pretty much sprinted the whole way trying to catch my wife, but there was no chance. If I'd had the head start I usually do, probably would have, but not w/ her on the road same time as me before I did the kid dropping.

caloso 06-20-07 09:44 AM

First commute this week: I was traveling Monday and carpooled yesterday with Mrs. Caloso and the Wonder Twins. It was the first time on the bike since Saturday morning, which is my longest stretch off the bike since our spring vacation.

Got 26 miles in by heading down the Sacramento River Road into the wind before turning around to cruise with the tailwind. Very nice.

pinkrobe 06-20-07 09:48 AM

Beautiful day today - no worries.

LittlePixel 06-20-07 03:33 PM

The commute was cr4p. Someone stole my b17 and hard-to-find 29.something mm 80s Peugeot seatpost. Neither are worth anything but had to pony up £31 to cab the thing home. I don't think riding 8 miles fixed gear with no seat is good for the posterior.
