Wind-burn. Anyone?

So, does anyone else get windburn? I've noticed since the temperature has dropped that the skin on my knuckles are getting severely cracked and painful. I had a cheap pair of gloves and was getting numbness in the cold. I upgraded to a nice pair of neoprene gloves, but the effects are still there.

Any great cures or preventions?

Any decent lotion for the dry hands
and a good winter/ski gloves from any
store. Windproof/waterproof barrier on the
outside with some insulation inside.

Dry winter air really taps your skins moisture. Keep them covered and use lotion once in a while. pretty simple.

Burt's Bees hand salve works great! Use it before and after gardening or working outdoors when you can't wear gloves. It replenishes your hands much better than lotion.

Wear glove liners (ideally wool ones) under your neoprene gloves. And follow the advice people are giving you about re-hydrating your hands.

A learned this from my wife. First, moisten the hands with Johnson's Baby Oil. Allow it ten minutes to soak into the crevaces and cracks. Then wipe the hands off on some other dry area (knees, elbows, whatever) to get the excess off.

Follow this with your favorite hand cream (Vaseline Extensive Care works fine) and really work it in. Do this at bedtime or after showering, and your hands will soften up and the dry skin will be gone. I do this every other day during the winter. Helps to keep chapping to a minimum.

I'll use some Pond's cold cream on my face a couple times a winter. My face is usually pretty oily. But for some reason, I feel really cold when it dries out.

Any half-decent hand lotion will work for hands, if it's applied often enough. Axle grease is good, too, but my wife doesn't care for it for some reason.

i like using aqauphor. it's a little pricey but you don't need much to get the job done

If your hands are really bad, apply a liberal coating of petroleum jelly on them and cover with an old pair of socks, before bed. Your hands will feel so much better, by AM.

I like this stuff because it has little or no alcohol
