People Returning Lights!
I use an array of lights when I commute pre-sunrise, and when I lock up the Rig I place them all in a bag, then put the bag in my backpack. Yesterday it was cloudy and bleak during the afternoon so I decided to put on one headlight and one taillight for the trip home, so I took the bag out of my backpack, got the lights out and put them on the bike - then took off, leaving the bag with the rest of the lights on the ground by the bike rack! About 5 hours later I started looking for the bag at home and realized what I had done. In the bag were a MiNewt 200 headlight, a MiNewt 600 Cordless, two NiteRider Cherrybombs, one PBSF and one PBSF Turbo - added up it's about $460 worth of gear! :notamused:
I drove my car back to the shopping center to see if by some miracle it was still there, and, of course it wasn't. But I walked into the grocery store by the bike rack and discovered someone had turned it in to the lost-and-found, and all the lights were there! I was relieved to have the lights back, but was also relieved to discover there are still honest people in the world! :thumb: |
Yes, there are.
I would have made sure you got your MiNewt 200 headlight, two NiteRider Cherrybombs, one PBSF and one PBSF Turbo back. see what i did there :) |

So you know you are really a dedicated cyclist if the value of your bicycle lights exceeds the value of your car?
Glad you got your lights back. Last time one of mine went missing, a neighbor's child had snagged it to play with, apparently it somehow went under water and did not survive. |
Yes, thankfully there are still honest people out there. Thanks for sharing a good news story. We need more of those :-)

Wow - you have 8 lights that you put on / take off your bike when you ride at night? I have one light of value that I remove and take with me - everything else stays on the bike. (then again, I often leave my car unlocked also...)

Tractor,
How do you like the Minewt 600? I'm looking to upgrade my MiNewt 350 & that light is in the running. |

Usually, on the rear I have the two Cherrybombs on the ends and the PBSF Turbo in the center, with the PBSF Stealth on the seatpost, like this (pardon pic quality): http://markstone.org/backlite1.jpg Then on the front is the pair of MiNewts: http://markstone.org/frontlite.jpg In the bag is two or tree more lights, including an old Dinotte 5-watt (the one that used the rechargable AA batteries, it's about 4 or 5 years old). The four lights on the rear are awesome - cars swing wiiiiiiide! |

I really like the 600 Cordless. It sends out a wide, bright beam and it is also completely self-contained (no separate battery). Especially considering the price ($149) it's very nice. There are brighter lights on the market, but at a much greater price. It's brighter than 90% of the car headlights out there (less lumens but greater lux) and really lights up the road. I think you would be very happy. Also, it quick-releases off the bars and is an awesome flashlight. Negatives are that at first the control may be confusing, and the attachment on the handlebar is persnickity - when you run over a bump it points down a little and sometimes you have to reach up and point it back forward. But that's not a biggie.

I had an older Vistalite (does anyone else still use these??) that was stolen off my bike that was locked in a stairwell. They left the battery and cord, just took the lamp. I was prepared to replace it and started thinking about it. I printed out a sign briefly explaining that it would do the person no good and asking for it's return. The next day it was left on the the seat of my bike!! Unexpected and I still use it!!
