Show us your parts bin
I admit it. I'm a parts hoarder. As I was looking at the rat's nest that is my parts bin yesterday, I thought it would be fun to see what other people's collection of spare bits and pieces looks like.
Here's mine. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-p...0/IMG_0271.JPG Show me yours? |
thats remarkably well-organized and you can't be a hoarder if you're organized. I have a spare parts bin but it's not much to see. Two saddles, spare pump, spare 11-32 cassette, spare chain, old Brooks handlebar tape that was not worth the money, and some pedals. Maybe one day I'll accumulate as much as you have!

Please? |
Hey, you never know when your old crap will become rare and desirable. :thumb:
|
I have four tires and a spare tube out of the way on a shelf in a closet. ( And another tube with CO2 in a water bottle that gets moved between my bikes. ) Otherwise, I have a bag of old parts I've been meaning to donate to Bike Works, but haven't yet.
|
When my parts bin gets big enough, I build (another) bike.
|
Nothing to see, Big Plastic tubs , that hinge open on the top, and stack.

I definitely want to see a picture of your stash. Having seen some of the bikes that no doubt emerged from it, I'm very curious.
Please? Right now I can't even find the top of my desk for parts... but remember that it looks something like this. :) http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...1shopdesk1.JPG |
Sixtyfiver, that's a workshop worth drooling over. What kind of truing stand is that with the gauges?

Other shots of my shop before my last little reno... I have since installed overhead racks to store wheels as they were getting out of control. All the cogs on the wall are just that... old cog boards I inherited from a local shop that lets me build up or rebuild pretty much any freewheel ever made. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/2011shop1.JPG This was from last spring... I can see the space heater was on. :) http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...shopapres1.JPG I have a shelving unit that is 8 feet across and 6 feet high loaded with small parts in the corner you can't see and bits and bobs everywhere. |
Impressive and amazing! Great pics.

Nice!

All I have are two adidas shoe boxes. The things I swap back and forth goes in them, the rest gets thrown out because I usually use them till they die.
Also, my freinds and I have a system of swapping, so that's also a good way to keep things moving and interesting. |
Nice setup Sixty Fiver. You probably need it with that many bikes to maintain.
All I've got are extra lights, various pedals, spare tube, a rear fender, a rear rack, pair of slick tires, and various bolts & brackets. It's kind of kept in various locations in my basement. (Still haven't organized the basement since moving last summer.) |

All those bikes require very little upkeep... I have half a dozen projects in the works and keep most of those in a separate building and have quite a few bikes and frames hanging from the rafters or up in the rafters. Funny that when I moved in I thought I had more space than I could ever need and right now can't turn around without bumping into bikes or parts. Guess that means I have lots to do. |
I'd play but my crap hole of a garage is totally out of hand right now. So bad that most of the personall collection is in the house for lack of room.
I have other toys as well including a Muscle car and a 4x4 that have their own stash piles in the crap hole garage. |
