Homemade pannier

2 Attachment(s)
Thought the commuting forum might appreciate this one - my single pannier was big enough for my work essentials but there wasn't any room left over for a grocery stop, library books, etc etc. I didn't want to pay $65 for another pannier so I made my own.

Bag - Loop NYC Transversion purse, vinyl - $3 from Goodwill
Clips - Koki FlipKlip clips - $4+shipping from decide2ride.com
Screws, hard plastic - free from various places in my house

So far, so good :thumb: What do you all think?

I'm thinking about rejuvenating a worn out pair of panniers with new hardware. How are the FlipKlips? Do they seem like they will hold up to abuse?

I've only had mine for a couple weeks, but so far so good. On the Koki bag that I bought, the hinge pin came partially out of one (because I had to sort of twist the bag on and off due to my rack setup - pretty much a user issue) and I had to pop it back in. The clips that I bought separately seem like they've been updated; the hinge pins have a nail-head type thing on one side, and the other side is spread out to keep it from slipping out. The plastic is really sturdy, and they're super easy to clip on and off the rack. I don't really have any other attachment systems to compare to - my old panniers were the Avenir double bag that strap on over the rack - but I'm pretty happy with these. Besides, for the price you really can't go wrong.
