Have you named your shop?
So last spring my wife and I moved into our new house and I spent a lot of time having friends over, drinking beer and fixing up bikes on the patio. So much so that my wife's cousin's husband created Saunders Patio & Bike Shop on Facebook and started checking in when he would hang out.
Well fast forward to last christmas and my wife's cousin drew my name in the in-laws gift pool. Normally I get a sweater or something and I have to sit there and pretend it's the greatest gift ever, but this time it was different, I was floored when I opened my gift; a hand burnt wood sign and a dozen pint glasses all with the new Saunders Patio & Bike Shop logo she had created. My wife's cousin is a graphic artist who does logos and corporate graphics for a living. I thought it was such a cool and unique gift. I can't remember being so excited and impressed.

So I think everyone saw how excited I was so when my birthday rolled around in Feb my father-in-law gave me a case of custom logo polar tech bottles for "The Bike Shop" and my wife had some temporary tattoos made (got the idea from eating at Dinosaur BBQ in NY).

All in all I think this stuff is really cool and unique and I wanted to share it with my fellow commuters and bike enthusiasts in general. Funny thing is that I had stopped riding last summer in the heat of the summer and never started again in the fall. After I got the sign from her cousin I was embarrassed about my lack of riding and I've only missed two work days so far this year. Does anyone else have a name\logo for their garage or patio where you hang out and work on your bikes? What do you call it?

Good idea, and great logo!
But I got distracted by the mention of Dinosaur BBQ, which I have never heard of before. We should have one in Colorado! Plenty of dinosaurs here (I have paleontologist friends).
And I noticed your granite countertop. (You know you're a geologist if....). Classic porphyritic granite (the dark one). Not yet sure of the one with the polar bottles on it.
We have our own bikeshop in the basement but haven't thought of naming it.

My shop had a name before I started riding.
A boat shop my Dad had in the late forties.
WoodWonderBoat Works.
He built small racing hydros. And a couple sail boats.
My Great, great, great,,,, grandfather worked in the boat
yard where the USS Constitution was built. No record that
he worked on the ship, but the time was right.

BIG cudos for the cousin!! That's way cool. I've thought of naming my garage shop before but never really did it. I was the repair shop for the neighborhood kids when my kids were younger. We had 6-9 bikes haging around at any givin time, plus a couple more in the back shed that I eventually fixed up and gave to a friend and her son.

My boat shop, where I also work on bikes. Not sure why I named it, I just build small wooden row boats and sailboats as a hobby, but after I came up with a logo things got kind of crazy and I have flags and some shirts also.
Sometimes I combine bikes and wood.

That's great! I'm really impressed by all the boat building! Who knew so many commuters also build boats?

What a thoughtful gift. You must have a good relationship with your cousins.

I have a pretty big detached shop that I call my Vasty Hall of Death. I stole the name from Yama in Lord of Light. I rarely work on weapons there though.

actually, i have to be REALLY careful about not dropping stuff over the edge. not only can things falling off my balcony lead to serious fines from my condo assocaition ($1,000+), but a bolt falling from 33 floors up could potentially hurt a pedestrian on the sidewalk below.

my son just called the garage my mancave......after I hooked the stereo up.
but if it gets called anything it will be "Willow Glen Surf Boards" More as a joke, I have built one foam longboard, a longoard skateboard for my son (maple/mahoghony), am doing balance boards now, and have my eye on doing a hollow wood surfboard....which is sure to get the roll eyes and updated to do list from by significant other

Wow, that is really cool. Now you have to start brewing your own beer (if you don't already) so you can have a signature brew!

Haven't thought of it, but it's an idea I think I'll run with.
Cool gifts.
