SKS Chromeplastic Fender Hardware

I was recently handed down a set of SKS Chromeplastic fenders. The fenders are like new but I'm missing 2 of the fender stays and all of the anchor bolts. I have looked all over the internet for the hardware but have had no luck. I was wondering if anyone new where to find a hardware set or a worthy substitute. I was also wonder what kind of brakes besides V brakes I could use with them. Thanks.

universal cycles has sks spare parts and i have them installed on two 700c bikes with disc brakes. i much prefer the rigid chromoplastic fenders to the cruddy plastic ones (a la planet bike).

I've used them with canti's,centerpulls and Tektro sidepulls. It just depends on the clearance.

Bike shops have a bin of half sets of mudguards where one broke,
and so the customer got a new pair, so you might find 2nd hand parts there.

I asked a bikeshop that sold QBP merchandise, and they ordered me some SKS hardware for pretty cheap. Other shops wanted to sell me big packages of hardware for way more, so it probably depends on who you ask.

yeah it sucks because I just need 2 of the stays and the anchor bolts, and I don't really want to buy a whole kit just for those few parts, but I guess haveing extra isn't always a bad thing. I got them free from one of my LBS's so I guess I just didn't think of asking if they could order me what I needed. Universal Cycles has what I need but I would end up paying $20+ for just a few things. I'm sure if I just went to my dude at the shop he would help me out. Usually they will try to get you for a bunch of stuff you don't need. Thanks guys for all the input.

You can make them out of steel rod stock and using a vice/pliers/vice grips.

Yochris: That's an excellent "how to mount fenders" video. I have my fenders assembled, but not yet mounted to the bike. The instructions that came with the fenders are pretty bad. That guy has probably mounted 100 sets of those fenders. He made it look soooooo simple.

Rivendell carries the hardware and stays for these fenders.

Yeah for sure. I had tried really struggled to get my fenders dialed in, and was using all sorts of wacky techniques to get them mounted. The I saw that video and had an AH HA! moment. You may learn as I did, that assembling them fully before mounting them doesn't really work that well. good luck!

Hardware should be here within the week I just bought the hole kit, It cant hurt. They are going on my '74 Browning touring build. Which will be my long haul rider.

I ended up with these brakes http://www.ebay.com/itm/120791745847...84.m1439.l2648

They seem to have the room I need and the the bike they are going on had center pulls on it a long time ago. Plus they are from the same era.
