What to choose??????

Hi All,

Im in the process of deciding which bike to buy, its between the Trek 7.5 FX disc or the Specialized sirrus expert 2011. I've test ridden the trek at the mo. the bike feels awesome. But I would like some extra input from anybody, its a lot of money to spend on a bike id like to make sure I get the right one!!!

The Trek FX bikes are awesome. I had a 7.5 & now ride a 7.6 Great bikes & I would highly recommend them. That being said, the Sirrus is a very nice bike too. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

cheers dude, Do you know anything about gear set up's? I was looking at the Trek and it comes with deore LX but the Specialized comes with SRAM Apex i dont know anything about this make.

Have you taken the Sirrus for a spin yet? The components are lower on the priority pole than how the bike feels while riding it.

I have the FX 7.5 with disc brakes. The disc brakes are pretty awesome and you can stop on a dime. The shifting is very smooth. The bike weighs about 25lbs with the cheap plastic pedals. The fit and finish are very nice and I like the color of the bike. The bike is pretty nimble; it handles well and is responsive. The fork on the Trek disc is not carbon; the Specialized (no disk model, right?) has a carbon fork and my absorb some of the road bumps a bit better.

My other bike is a road bike. I have to admit that my personal preference is for the geometry of the road bike. The bars on the hybrid are really wide. I can probably chop off 2-3" and not feel like the flying nun when I ride. The cassette has very wide gear range, unlike my road bike. When you shift from one gear to the next, there is a larger difference in speed. I have no experience with the Specialized. Don't be impulsive! Try both bikes and see which one fits you best. Check out any differences in gearing, too.

My understanding is that SRAM Apex is equivalent to Shimano 105 and is better than the Deore/Sora on the FX.
