Check your law a little closer. In Idaho a cyclist may treat a "stop sign" the same as a yield sign, but cyclist must STOP at a red light and only then if it is clear may the cyclist ride through the red light (treat it like a stop sign).
I don't believe all these responses where cyclists claim to stop and wait through the entire red light cycle when there's no crossbound traffic. I've never seen anyone do that. Plus, some of the signal actuators won't even register a bicycle. One could be sitting for quite a while at some of the more sleepy intersections! Wonder if there's a country/western song about a rider who spends the night at a red light, waiting for the signal to change? |
