when I was a teen, an slightly older teen skitched (or bumper sliding as noted in post above) on the local doctors car.....but with slippery shoes on icy roads (montana where school shoe selection was based on how slippery the sole was for sliding on snow). The penalty was the doctor got stopped got out and paddled the teen (one or two swats....teen was mostly embarrasded) different times.

That's the right code, no mention of what the fine is. Some violations list the "not to exceed" fines, not this one.

There are penalties the court adds of between $21 and $26 and a court penalty of $7 for every $10 of base fine, plus a surcharge of $15 for a misdemeanor and $7 for an infraction and a court fee of up to $7, plus there is an additional $40 court security fee per violation and a conviction assessment fee ($35) where applicable. The court fine above may thus be another $75.00 or more. Late fees can easily add another $200 to a fine.

In NY it's a violation to hold on to moving vehicles. But like others pointed out, you might be on your way to win another Darwin Award.

OK. That's what i was looking for. Seems to make it an offense for the "person riding" who attaches himself to a streetcar or other roadway vehicle...I was wondering what the roadway vehicle driver could be charged with.

The penalty is that you are a dumbass, or, technically, stupid. You see, ignorance can be cured with education, but stupid is forever......

The penalty is that for every 100 yards you skitch, I'm now 100 yards stronger for having pedaled it.

My sister got a ticket in high school because she let one of her idiot friends surf on her roof, but this is different. I don't know how they'd charge you as a driver.

Reminds me of the commercial for some car company, where the cyclist was hopscotching with traffic and putting his hand on the car's hood at every stop light, then finally at one light when he was about to reach out for it, the driver backed up and the dude toppled over.
