New bike day! (sort of)
Today was new bike day for me...sort of. The bike is actually 11 years old and I've had it for 3 months, but today was the first time I actually took it out for a ride. Part of that time I was waiting for parts, part of the time I was being lazy about putting it together and part of the time I was waiting for good weather. Anyway, today was the big day.
When I bought the bike, it looked like this: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7153/6...4f74cf81_z.jpg After a few minor changes, it looks like this: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7261/6...e8c2c781_c.jpg What do you think? |
Adding brifters seems more than a minor change, but regardless its pretty awesome. =) I love the Lemonds maybe I'll get another one someday.

Great looking ride! Good job on the drop bar conversion.

I actually changed everything but the headset. :)
This bike was designed for drop bars, so it's more of a rescue than a conversion. It's my first non-CX road bike since I was a teenager. The brakes aren't as much of an improvement on cantis as people often claim, but I love the way it corners. |
Looking good!!!

Brifters, eggbeaters, triple crankset, sleek saddle, nice new tires - looks good! And I've always liked the look of the narrower tubing of classic bikes. Seems so much more subtle, functional and simple.
I'm not a fan of the seatpost or the stem but obviously that's all part of personal fit. |
I would normally never buy a bike called a "lemon", especially if it's misspelled. But that's a pretty nice ride.

I wanted a bike that would accuse all the carbon bikes of doping while its admirers talk about how fast it used to be. |
