hearing aids and rain suits
hello ,
So I commute 14 miles one way and I have to climb some hills to get to work. I noticed that most rain suits dont have any hoods except for the helmets covers. So is there anyone out there that wears hearing aids? what do you use. I am thinking of getting a wind breaker and soaking it in rain repellent like you would use on a tent. any one tried this? thanks |

I don't wear hearing aids, but I do have a hooded cycling specific rain jacket. I normally ride with a ballcap under my helmet. When it rains, the hood gets layered between the hat and the helmet.

You should also look into a ear protector / covering specifically

I would also recommend checking out non-cycling specific rain jackets. Ones for backpacking usually have the best cut, but can get really pricey. I picked up a nice one last year with an ample hood. Just be sure to buy a size you can layer under, but not turn into a parachute in a headwind. And most preferably, go and try some on with your bicycle helmet and try turning your head in the riding position to make sure your neck isn't too restricted.

I wear hearing aids and have never had a problem cycling with them. Even when I get wet, they seem to work just fine - I think the helmet provides basic protection to stop water getting into your ears. I fear that a hood would curb visibility too much.
