Post your bike to work PICS

Today was bike to work day.. and i rode my bicycle in.

I start off riding the bicycle and bicycle to the bus stop. Then take the bus to the Silver Spring metro, where i stopped at the events there. I felt rather guilty taking the bus to the event. But i took some pics. Then i rode about 12 miles to my destination in Rosylyn, va where there was another evnet. This is where i got free stuff like tshirts, water bottle, safety vest and a tune up where they told me i needed a new chain, chainring and rear cassette.

This is in silver spring, in the discovery channel plaza

I didn't think to take any pics, but I also stopped at the Arlington/Rosslyn pit stop to get my T-shirt (and rode through the Falls Church & Dunn Loring pit stops, and close to the Freedom Plaza/ Ronald Reagan Bldg pit stop)

Ride safe.

Biked up from City Dock in Annapolis, MD. … My normal commute doesn't take me south; however I thought I would check it out. According to the sponsor they had about 200 commuters signed up, but there were plenty more who just stopped by. Set up was similar to the OP experience, free adjustments, some swag, plenty of coffee and fruit. I didn't stay long, but they were raffling off a bike rack for a car. Looked interesting, the rack mounted with a suction cup device. Not sure if I would trust that style of rack. After I left Annapolis I only saw a few more riders than a typical day. Great weather for bike to work day!

Definitely not my experience; easily 5 times the number of bikes I see on a regular day.

Everyday is Bike to Work day. ;)

They had a bunch of media at my usual train station so I rode to the next one to avoid them.

Thanks for sharing. Wish I could have biked to work, but I'm working out of town this week.

Rockfish 05-18-12 08:49 AM

Saw ONE new person who might have been biking to work, otherwise just me as usual.
Local advocacy group had a table set up at the commuter rail station, but I think they're in for a busy day of giving out power bars to the car commuters!

Me and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price. This is the second time I've ridden with her on Bike to Work Day.

She's probably the best bike advocate in the city. Since becoming mayor she's started a weekly ride that visits various parts of the city, with attendance of a dozen or so up to well over a hundred.

great day for it here, all the drama over nato protests has downtown with at least 50% fewer cars

And she's not slow.
She's not just not slow 'for a woman', or not slow 'for a woman of her age'... she's a good rider.

That's awesome, we need more business that encourage biking to work.

Repeated for truth. While we were riding, she said that since she's become mayor she doesn't have as much time as she'd like for "real" riding. I rode with her once last spring and had trouble keeping up.

That's nice to see your towns did something for the day. I don't think the city where I live did anything.

I normally have Fridays off but still rode in to meet some friends for breakfast. I actually got a couple friendly waves from people in cars.

A few more pictures from yesterday. The first is a couple with their bikes; they do long-distance tours on these bikes.

The larger group assembling at the church. The city set up four meeting points and had people met up at them and then continued on to downtown.

Bike Today. No Photos

I biked from San Diego to Imperial Beach. I stopped at a "pit stop" about half way there in Chula Vista and got a free bottle of tea. I saw a lot of people on Comfort Bikes, Cruisers, and Hybrids riding to work, along with the usual Road Bike set.
