That is a great looking bun, Kookaburra! I don't think my hair is quite long enough at this point to do the knee-high technnique, but I'm filing it away for future reference!

I like the John Frieda anti-frizz product--it's a really lightweight gel-type concoction you smooth on your hair post-commute. I combat helmet flatness by using bobbypins to do a sort of Snooki-esque pouf of hair at the top of my head before I put my helmet on. I take the pouf out and just finger comb my hair at work.

So today I used some of the LA Looks Mega Hold sport gel that Kookaburra recommended - my hair looked awesome! I brought a comb and right when I got to work I just combed back and re-clipped a little piece of hair that had pulled out of one of my hair clips and that was it. Thank you Kookaburra!
I also bought this but I haven't tried it yet: https://www.garnierusa.com/_en/_us/our_products/product-struct.aspx?tpcode=OUR_PRODUCTS^PRD_STYLING^FRUCTIS_STYLE^STYLE_DISCOVER^STYLE_SLEEK_SHINE^STYLE_SLE EK_SHINE_RTN2&prdcode=P60052

Lieren, thanks for the tips. I feel like preserving one's hair style has not really been addressed by women bike bloggers out there... would like to see more on that, esp. from the ones who wear a helmet for commuting.

Well, I have to say, of the 2 products I bought (LA Looks Sport Gel and Garnier Anti Humidity Smoothing Milk), the LA Looks Mega Hold Sport Gel wins.
The Garnier product is nice, my hair looked pretty good, but after blotting my face and hairline with a paper towel at work, my temple areas still looked a little sweaty for the rest of the day. Verdict: The Garnier is a good product for non-biking days.
With the LA Looks gel, once I dry off and cool down, you'd never know I had been sweating. I even got the opportunity to test out the LA Looks in Houston this past weekend and it worked just as well as at home.
We have a winner here folks
