Give me your fixi foo

Hey what's up guys a thought just dawned in me after 3 of my friends were asked "give me your fixi" over the last month. We were talking and they told me of how they were almost robbed of their bikes while commuting home. One friend this has happened twice. So just out of curiosity has anyone ever been robbed or almost robbed for their steed ? FYI two of said bikes were road bikes with racks and femders one was a hybrid . All three confused as fixis.

First, I'd say that the one friend should maybe find another route.

Also, nice to see that the criminals are willing to work a little harder on the bike ride home.

Yes, 3 years back a guy standing in my path (in the middle of the lane) was flagging his arm for a bus way back behind me. I went to the right of him and as i was passing he went to punch me in the face but got me on top of the head with his arm (that must of hurt). I looped back and stopped and so did the buss driver to see if i was OK and to stop me from kicking the crap out of the guy wile still on my bike! 3 cars had stoped to watch and yell at me to stop. The guy ran onto the buss and off they went. I was on my way to work.

I usually try to keep my commute on well travelled streets. I do ride through a government housing development which looks sketchy but none of the people ever try anything. Actually, just last week, a little boy leaning out of a parked car window tried to give me a high five as I rode by. Made my day.

Pepper spray is light and cheap. I keep a can of Inferno by Cold Steel close at hand when riding.

In Florida we have the option of concealed carry...unfortunately the bike is about the only time I don't have protection on me.

I have had my left ear torn 1/2 the way off when turning my head from a dog going for my neck and broke 3 fingers on the side of his head, i was 13. 2 years or so after that i had a dog rip my foot up sort of bad. My mom still brings that up now and then. my lips turned blue from bleeding so much, ha ha, DARN DOGS!
