What gloves are you using?
 

Title says it all. I've worn out 3 sets of gloves in the last year and I'm looking for something a bit more hardy. If not, I'm resigned to buying multiple pairs a year. And yes, I machine wash them. No, I won't stop. I've tried offerings from Bontrager/Trek (best so far), Pearl Izumi, Giro, and Bell (very surprised these held up so well).

Been using a pair of "BG" brand work gloves from Home Depot.
They are form fitting just like cycling gloves, leather palms with padding in the same places as cycling gloves and the backs are neon yellow which is great for signaling turns.
Best of all, they were only about 8 bucks.

I've found that no brand of gloves will last more than a year if used daily on 5+ mile rides with longer rides on the weekend. I'm a clyde so I'm probably putting a little more pressure on them than most.

I may have been able to avoid multiple pairs per year because I don't machine wash the gloves; hand wash and air dry only.

Pair of gardening gloves that I got from Dollar Tree, since my son swipes any half finger gloves I bring home...

I don't wear gloves unless it's rainy or really hot out.

I only wear leather grips/synthetic uppers landscaper gloves in the cold of the morning, otherwise none.

I don't wear gloves unless it's cold out, and then I just wear these Gore Windstopper gloves that I found at REI. I'm pretty sure they're unremarkable. If it's really cold out, I wear thin liners under the windstoppers, and if it's really, really cold, I wear ski gloves. I've never worn out a pair of gloves in my entire life; usually, I just lose them. Of course, my riding position isn't terribly aggressive, since I only ride touring and mountain bikes.

I wear Specialized BG (Body Gel? Bio Gel? something like that) half-finger gloves in warm weather - the padding is really nice and thick, and the high contrast white/black seems to really get motorists' attention when I'm signaling. In cold weather I use niagara full finger gloves with a reflective stripe across the back, but the palm padding isn't much, so I don't like them as much as the Specialized.

Uline for me. Have several pair of cycling gloves that I alternate for hygenic reasons, but the Uline fingerless work gloves are as functional as any I've used. With the great exception being Spenco Ironman cycling gloves. Far and away the best I've ever used. 29.00 w/no shipping from www.bikeisland.com.

commute? just to keep my hands warm.. its only about 4~5 miles..

Cycle Rain Cape , means they are finally staying dry.

Right now I'm using a pair of giant gloves I bought from one of the LBS that I found up here, but for about a year and a half, two years before that I was still using the same pair of bell cycling gloves. I'm not too rough on my gloves though so I don't know if that helps.

Spenco Iron Man. They have been great gloves for comfort and wear. I don't machine wash them, just lightly hand wash in Woolite every once in a while, so no info on how they hold up to the washing machine/dryer. My only complaint was that for the first two weeks they left my hands black if I got sweaty. I also have some basic Bontrager gloves which are fine but don't have nearly the padding nor are they as good at keeping pressure off the ulnar nerve.

Whatever leather/crocheted gloves I can find cheap. I wash them maybe 3 or 4 times a year. A pair will typically last me 2 or 3 years.

They fall apart at a speed entirely dependent on how often I wash them, so I leave them with the bike in the garage and wash them when they start tap-dancing on their own, or when I fear a bio-hazard citation, whichever comes first.

I wear gloves because in the times I've crashed, my hands have always taken the worst damage, and spending a few weeks regrowing the skin on the palms of my hands is not pleasant.

I second this.

I'm using some low end fingerless Nike weight lifting gloves. I don't like padded gloves, and it's hard to find cycling gloves without padding in stores around here. They've lasted three years.

I never washed my gloves, is it bad? I have the same pair for almost a year so approx. 5000 kms.

Anyone have any idea of how to judge fit?

Those are the same ones I have, size small fits me fine, slightly loose. My hand is 3.5" wide just distal to the base of my thumb, and 4" long from my wrist to where my fingers begin.

Love these. I have two pairs. Cut the fingers off one.
