Congress Passes Transportation Bill... we are Alternative Transportation!
Well, Congress was able to pass the Transportation Bill....
And in the process, obliterated Safe Routes to School and other programs. We're all now lumped into one big ol' "alternative transportation" category.

At first glance the bill looks like its designed to satisfy the "state's rights" contingent and thus allowing the maximum pork value for the money allocated to the states.
Funny that the same group that screams they want to maximize state control over the use of federal funds and screams about big government and taxes thinks nothing of using federal money to pad the coffers of lobbyists and industry donors instead of doing things that are actually needed. It would have been great if this bill actually addressed the serious infrastructure issues we have nationally, set some basic priorities and created a large number of jobs while they were at it.
Instead it will more than likely be big chunks of profit for the same old crowd and accomplish a small percentage of what it could have- and mostly in states with progressive leadership and a minimum of corruption- not something that necessarily goes hand in hand.
