The OP should check with the local Police Department to see if they can go get a statement from the driver before he wises up or lawyers up and forgets the incident. It may not be too late to get something on paper.

I bet the op was going straight and the van was turning left across the left lane to change from north to east or east to south you get my point. If I'm behind a van or suv or truck at in intersection and I notice people wanting to turn left from the other side of the light I tend to ride so that I can see the driver and I wear bright color cloths aswell as I was almost hit by someone making a turn there him and I both had to move out of each others way other wise it could of been nasty. Which also led me to getting a go pro camera. Anyways glad you are not hurt to bad. Ride on.

Im so tempted to get a helmet or widelense handle bar camera (Considering i dont wear a helmet 95% of the time)
