she had her last ride tonight my bad luck it was after i rode like 20 miles tonight which is 60 times around the park. the noise from bottum bracket got real bad. so i called walmart told them the deal that i only bought it 5 weeks ago. She said take it in .But when i got there they said its was pass 15 days and i cant return it . I told them when i bought it the guy said 90 days which is what he said.well they let me return it but i had to get another bike meaning the same denail i told them that i thuink there all defective so i finaly was able to get a shwin avenue. so far i like it a lot better the brakes are way better and i was able to put a basket on it.IM so tired i have like 35 miles in today which is a lot for me Sorry for the bad typeing im beat and sorry for another walmart bike but it is my only option right now But im saveing right now and i will get a decent bike someday

Probably for what you spent you could've picked up a quality used bike off of Craigslist that would be 10 times the bike of any Walmart BSO.

windhchaser 07-08-12 12:41 AM

yeah i know but it seemed to me they didnt want to give me cash back.

roashru 07-08-12 01:05 AM

you should inspect your schwinn avenue wheel hubs and bottom bracket for grease. if i remember correctly that bicycle has long stem schrader tubes and walmart dosnt sell them i never could understand that.

windhchaser 07-08-12 01:07 AM

Yeah the tube is weird

windhchaser 07-08-12 01:13 AM

Take your bike to a LBS and have it checked out! :)

They'll probably charge you about $10-$15, but have it checked anyways! :thumb:

yeah i for sure wnat to do that because when i get in better shape i want to ride it to the mountains or the waterfalls i forget the waterfalls name but there beautifull and i for sure dont want to have my bike die again.i didnt know how bad my Denali brakes was to i got on this bike..O i forgot to say i amost got a moutain bike it was a 29 er had frony shok and front disk brakes was 100 bucks i forgot who made it but it had a g on the front perhaps genesis

roashru 07-08-12 01:54 AM

genesis bicycles are a walmart brand made by kent international. i looked at that 29er it looks nice for a walmart bicycle.

windhchaser 07-08-12 02:01 AM

was on clearance but it looked used so i didn't get it the Schwinn was 224 .But it is weird they have 2 bikes at walmart with the same name.

chefisaac 07-08-12 02:05 AM

You will find that you will out grow the bike in time. It is a good starter bike but as you ride, get fit and experience new challenges (like hills, etc) you will find that perhaps you outgrew the bike. Not a bad thing but it is what it is!

windhchaser 07-08-12 02:42 AM

o i already want a new bike got a jar that im putting all my extra money in . i see that this bike has a life time warranty on frame and parts excluding brakes and tires.but ill believe it when i see it

I used to work walmart, and I can tell you if you get aggressive, demand store mgr, present receipt and state your case that they will give you a refund...BUT you have to stand your ground and tell them in no uncertain terms, will you settle for less than a refund!

I've only bought one bike from them, new in the box. a Mongoose D70r Not a bad bike til some pos cut my lock and took it...

t.

chefisaac 07-08-12 03:40 AM

I agree with Tec. I used to work for them when I was 16 years old. If you stand your ground and do not give an inch, you can get a refund. Save all the paperwork! And that goes for anything you buy really be it from walmart or any place. I have had some bad luck with ebay lately but it has been my fault for not saving the paperwork and box :(

cycleheimer 07-08-12 07:17 AM

At least Wal-Mart took it back for an exchange.

sirtirithon 07-08-12 07:44 AM

Glad you are back on a bike. Sounds like the Schwinn will work out well for you for now. Nice job saving up the cash for a new bike and not buying one on credit. A lot of people wouldnt be that responsible.

xenologer 07-08-12 07:56 AM

actually, its probably better to buy with a credit card
if walmart gives you trouble about returning a defective bike, your card company is on your side and can reverse the charges from their end
just gives you an extra level of recourse/protection

Don't answer if you consider this question offensive or too personal, but how old are you?

no1mad 07-08-12 01:31 PM

I wonder if Kent/Pacific/Dorel has permission to use the GMC Denali name? I mean, there's all kinds of cheap bikes out there that are named after some higher-end luxury/performance models from the automotive world. I'd be a little peeved if I had worked hard at developing a certain image in order to charge a premium price, only to have someone slap the same name on an inferior product...

himespau 07-08-12 01:39 PM

Bummer that you had so many problems, but at least you have a new bike now.

windhchaser 07-08-12 01:56 PM

im such a dork i am really really excited about the basket i realy need to get out more. this basket can hold a full gallon of milk and a little more. Before i had to put it in back pack and i was afraid it would pop open and id lose my milk.now i can just put it in the basket

windhchaser 07-08-12 02:29 PM

if i feel better im going to walmart tonight to by the extended warranty will give me 2 years of worry free for 20 bucks.. they say it has a lifetime warranty. but if i have to send the bike in that would be bad

windhchaser 07-08-12 08:43 PM

do you all think the average basket will go on the rear of this bike?i have a front basket now i want a rear or a rack

no1mad 07-08-12 09:47 PM

You need a rack to mount a basket.

windhchaser 07-08-12 09:53 PM

cool ty
