700c tyres for 29er mtb
I'm trying to get my head round what hybrid tyres I can use on my 29er mountain bike.
I initially bought a set of 32c Maxxis Overdrive Kevlar Inside Tyre and discovered these were too thin Giant P-XC2 Performance 29er rims.
What would the minimum width tyres be that you would recommend for these rims? I want something thinner then my current 2.1" XC tyres, however I don't want something road bike thin (e.g. wider than the 32c ones I bought) that I am likley to slip over in when cornering in the wet.
Thanks

Schwalbe makes Marathon Supreme in sizes up to 700 x 50 (2") and Big Apples in sizes up to 700 x 60 (2.3").
Nice tires. The Supremes are more expensive, lighter and have better flat protection. The Big Apple is already an excellent tire.

What's the inside width of the rims? They must be pretty wide if 700x32 didn't work.

Now a 32mm wide tire is going to look goofy as hell on a mountain bike but looks are secondary.

as long as the bead is a few mm less than the inner rim width the tire should be safe to ride. however, you should call your manufacterer and make sure your rim is specced for high pressure.
