Don't You Hate It When...

Don't you hate it when you're riding to work in the morning and your head starts to itch? So you reach up and scratch it. Then you realize that you're wearing a helmet so you're actually scratching a piece of plastic. Then you realize there's a bunch of people watching you scratch a piece of plastic sitting on top of your head.

I just start talking to myself afterward as if I am pondering something intelligent.

Doesn't happen to me --in the rare instances when I DO wear a helmet, I don't 'forget' it's on my head. Sorry, can't relate.

What i HAVE done is, on the sudden decision to go somewhere, hustled out to the garage to grab my bike... and remembered I didn't have my SPD's on. (Nope, won't go with a combo pedal...learned that lesson about 6-7 years ago.)

Even worse is when you are sticking your fingers into vent holes trying to reach that spot that you can never get to. I've noticed that if you wait it out it goes away.

Yes!!!!!!!!!

I just grab the helmet and move it around a little; the bit of movement is like it scratches my entire head.

Ha yeah. I usually just end up gnashing the helmet into my head.

Well, I was once riding and saw that the end plug on my road handlebars had worked its way partly out. So I gave it a good smack. I forgot the laws of physics. It's just by luck I avoided eating pavement. There were witnesses (cyclists AND pedestrians)

I've done it too. As soneone said above, trying to reach through vent holes is worse!

Why are combo pedals a bad thing? I thought of getting those..I don't see myself never using platforms.

I'm not saying combo's are bad; they're just not for me.

In the time I listed, I was running SPD's; one pedal locked up on me, wouldn't spin as I pedaled. I took them off, put some platforms on until I could get new SPD's, took about a week. But I had used clipless for so long, my pedal action had changed, and to counter the foot-slipping-off-the-pedal act, I had to modify my pedaling style for that week. THE CRAMPS IN MY CALVES WERE EXCRUCIATING!!

New 515's cured that in less than fifteen minutes. At that point, I vowed to never go without clipless again. I run Time ATAC now, and have gotten even more picky; now I won't go back to Shimano!

Neither will I pedal any distance longer than my driveway without being clipped in....
