Burley Travoy question....

I've been in contact with Burley regarding this trailer and hitch. I don't seem to have enough seat tube height for this thing to work properly. Is there a way to attach another "seat tube" from mine? Something like the Travoy hitch, but it would shoot straight out from my tube and I could attach another tube to that extension to raise it to the proper height? I picture it sort of like this, with the T being my saddle, pointing to the right.

Hope that makes sense. Their suggestion was to use a rack hitch....but, um, that would make the trailer angle even lower if I'm picturing all this properly.

Thanks for any ideas!

Having the same issue here. I got the rack hitch but it is very very low (seeing as I'm very short).... Makes me feel a little uneasy. Haven't given it a test ride yet though. I'll see if I can get the hubby to spot me and give it a whirl tomorrow. I like your idea though!

I emailed with Burley a bit about this issue and they said: "The lowest height we recommend is 32". That's the height of the hitch. Let me know how it goes for you!

Perhaps something could be rigged up with the stoker stem from a tandem and a length of pipe. I'm not sure they make stoker stems long enough, though.

If you have or want to add a rack, you could use this:

Thanks for the rack mount suggestions, but it seems it would be even lower than my seat post and that I wouldn't be able use my trunk bag at the same time as the trailer. Of course, I may not be able to anyway if the arm of the trailer doesn't clear the bag.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread... each weekend I was like, "This is the weekend we are testing out the Burley!" and then, of course, life happens and the Burley didn't.

Tonight we finally did our first grocery run with the Travoy! Hubby went along to spot me from behind in case anything went wrong. The trip is only a mile there and a mile back. Once we were on the road it was smooth sailing (the hardest part was getting out of our apartment building!). The Burley didn't seem to have any problems being mounted to my low rack and did very well, even after I biked over a large piece of what was once part of a car's bumper that I didn't spot at first in the dark. I'll measure the rack height and get back to you on how low the Burley was actually hitched.

How do you attach the Travoy to a rack? I have an Explorer rack, which attaches to the seat post and leaves no room for something like the Travoy. I was wondering if you could attach the Travoy to a rack, but couldn't figure it out from the web sight. Do you have any pictures?
