Princeton Tec EOS headlight

Has anyone use this for commuting in the dark? I know there are better options but I would like first hand users to comment on this light, thanks in advance.

I should add that I commute on the streets and some parts of my route has poor lighting.

I use one as a helmet light. It has plenty of light to see by, I'm not sure I would rely on it as a single headlight

I have an older one, it was retasked from it's former role as a backpacking headlight to a helmet / headtube flasher only, supplemental to a proper headlight. It had become too dim for a BP headlight even back then, obsoleted by newer, lighter, brighter headlights.

Even the newer ones that are brighter are not nearly bright enough for a headlight. You want a headlight that gets motorists' attention - a PT EOS on steady would not do the job. I wouldn't use mine for a headlight on a MV-less MUP.

I've had one for a couple of years, and used it almost nightly in the burbs with a mix of lit and unlit streets. Worked great, and threw more than enough light to ride safely on roads at 15mph or so.

I have the EOS-bike on my helmet. It's a great lamp as a supplement to your bar mounted headlight. Looking into corners, fixing flats, reading road signs and cue sheets. If the bar mounted light should fail, I could get home with it if I pedal slower. I'd say about 10 to 13 mph. In the summer months, I leave the Velcro helmet mount attached and keep the EOS in my seat bag as a "just in case" light.
