I almost had a K'Tesh moment on the ride in today.

I was riding down a 2 way sidestreet that's been a part of my commute for a while now being careful to stay out of the door zone when all of a sudden a door comes flying open at a time when I couldn't avoid hitting it if I hadn't been safely to the side of it. The street is narrow enough to limit parking to the side I was on, and fortunately no one was coming the other way allowing me to move further out of the way after yelling a hearty "thank you" as I went by. The blinking light on my helmet should have been pretty visible in the large mirror on the side of the pickup if the driver had looked too, and as I pedaled away I kept thinking of the 2 times K'Tesh has been hit in the daytime. Fortunately, I didn't end up like that today - I'm riding home with all the lights on tonight!

Twice in daytime? Don't you mean 11 times in daytime (and once at night)? Nowadays I ride with my NR MiNewt 600 on flash in daylight, and I've just bought (yesterday) a new Serfas tail light. I plan on doing a shootout with my tail lights soon, and a review of the Serfas (nice wide angle of High Vis, USB rechargeable... but I'm not thrilled with the mount (misplaced one of the straps, using a rubberband in the meantime) (didn't stop me from buying it)).

Glad to hear that you weren't hit.

I feel safer at night, I thinks it's because my 3 rear blinkies and 2 front light will stand out a lot more in the dark so I can't be miss. I see a big difference in drivers behavior, they go slower and give me more space at night than in daytime. It could explain why K'tesh has been hit 11 times in daytime and just once at nightime.

I too feel safer at night. At night I have a measure of control over my visiblity, during the daytime, I'm just as invisible as any other cyclist.

11 times? I guess I only knew about 2. I feel safer at night too for the same reasons, even if you've got more lumens than most .

I have to agree night is safer, your lights are so much easier to say .

Day time you are just 1 rider in many even with your lights on.... Dusk is scary too :(

Good to hear you are ok
