Set up a second commuter

I've been commuting on a fixed gear Surly Ogre and the legs and knees have been getting sore. I squat a lot too (olympic lifting) which probably doesnt help. Plus, I'm too much of a pansy to climb with a fixed gear and I enjoy it, so.....I put some fenders on my mountain bike and bought a Ortleib messenger bag. I like panniers, but my mountain bike is a carbon, hardtail 29er with zero braze-ons, so I used rubber insulated clamps and zip ties to mount the fenders - worked great. Too much work and too many clamps to do the rack too so I got the backpack instead. If you dont have braze-ons, the clamps work great.

Nice improv. I miss having a FG - used to own one when I lived in the flats (Santa Clara, CA) and the biggest hill was an overpass. Now I live on the side of a hill and need the low gearing of my converted MTB to get me and my stuff home.
