Brush style mud flaps?

I've been looking at various models of mud flaps both DIY and commercial, but I've yet to see a brush style. My thought is that a brush would still provide drive-train protection while being less of an air brake like the solid plastic, leather, etc. models. Anybody have any info or ideas on how to make this?
