Can anyone identify this type of handlebar for me?
http://www.miir.com/v/vspfiles/asset...iiR_high_5.jpg
I like this style, something with a slight bend, not as much as a north bar. |
You'd probably like the On One Mary. dunno if there's a generic name for the style.
Actually Mary might be too much. Seems like it's in between that blue bike's bar and a mustache bar. http://www.on-one.co.uk/imgs/product...-TI-254_P2.jpg |
Looks like a lot of folks call them "city bars". http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...?category=1678
Nitto B206 seems to be a close match to that blue bike's bar. http://www.universalcycles.com/image...dium/37213.jpg |
I've generally seen them refered to as 'low-rise'
|
Low-rise riser bars usually won't have as much sweep, however. Risers typically sweep 5-10°. That Nitto sweeps back 20°
|
Velo-orange sells something like that they call a Tourist Bar.

yeah i've seen the tourist, a little too much bend for me. thanks for showing the Nitto B206
|
You might like Nitto's Urban Riser also. 12° instead of 20° sweep, almost 2" rise.

It looks a lot like the stock bars on my Trek hybrid that I "rolled" a bit forward to get rid of the cramped feeling with the bars straight up. Wurks fer me.

this book has a huge selection with all the specs/angles

Those used to be called all-rounders. They're very nice for city riding. But consider also the north road bend which sweeps back more. The grips are not quite parallel but they are closer to it than the all-rounders are.

Bontrager Satellite?

I don't remember what they were called, but it looks like the handlebars that came on most of the old English Racer style bikes in the 60s and 70s. They'll definitely keep you in an upright position.
|
The velo orange Milan bars are another option.

Typically referred to as mustache bar.
|
|
I found that a more swept back bar (VO Left Bank) left me in too much of an upright position. I like a city-type handlebar with about a 15 degree sweep. The Nordeast is right on. Another, less costly option could be this Dimension model. If you don't mind a little rise, the 30mm rise model with a little shortening of the width looks like it would be close to the Nordeast.

The Felt Albert bars that came on my 2009 Felt hybrid look a lot like that. I like them a lot. I don't think I've ever seen them on the Felt site as an individual item, though.
|
Felt Albert looks closer to On One's Mary than the Fleegal (or maybe you weren't referring to the post above your's, hard to tell)
Looks like it doesn't reach forward from the stem as soon as the Mary, which leaves more room for lights/computers. Could be some nice bars. http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/rev...ity/sm/x11.jpg Or maybe you meant they look like VO Milan. They do at that. |

XLC makes one along these lines. Our bike shop sold us one for $15. I also picked up a similar no-name set off ebay for a similar price delivered.
