I love considerate cabbies.

05:30 Sunday, November 18, whilst crossing the Cambie street bridge, northbound towards downtown Vancouver. This lovely cabbie crossed two lanes of traffic so that he could get behind me and test his horn as he buzzed me.
In case anyone is wondering there is a functioning and operating at the time PB Superflash turbo, Supernova E3 rear light, reflective stickers on fenders, rear facing reflective patches on my panniers and reflective piping on my coat plus a reflective sash. There is no excuse for not seeing me.

It wasn't like the road was crowded. What a &%$#$ that cabbie is. I hope you reported it to the cab company.

+1 Definitely report him. Most companies wouldn't want to have a liability like him on their payroll.

It's your responsibility to report him/her for the rest of us.

The next time he/she might pass even closer and cause an accident.

Maybe that was his way of letting you know your lights were bright enough? :p

Oh, I reported it all right. The dispatcher I spoke to gave me a name and gmail addy to to report the incident. My emails were bounced back as undeliverable. I tried two more email contacts from MacLure's website. 3+ days now and nothing. So, today I may step it up a notch or two. Forward my youtube link to the VPD's taxi team and a local new/consumer protection reporter.

It was a dick move for sure. When you watch the video you can see me wobble a couple times when buffeted by wind gusts (very windy on Sunday) seconds before that psychopath buzzed me.

Guy needs to lose his job, period.

Clearly a deliberate move, probably to "teach you a lesson" for not being on the sidewalk where he's used to seeing most bikes being ridden across the bridge, although AFAIK it's legal to ride on the Cambie bridge deck. I wouldn't have any realistic expectation that Manure's or any other of the lower mainland cab firms would do anything meaningful when incidents like this were reported to them, so definitely report it to VPD.

well, i just watched the vid. although annoying, perhaps even very annoying, it didn't look very dangerous (in a all-bark no-bite kinda way) as in they were at least half a lane away.

however, i would report him/her for sure.

i'd start by sending the video to a local newspaper/reporter, hell anyone from BF could do so, given that they know where you live.

:innocent:

also, FWIW, in the video, I found the strobe quite distracting and I'm glad they're illegal over here.

Half a lane away? He was occupying half the lane I was currently occupying. It could be the aspect of the camera lens but trust me, his sideview was barely a foot and a bit off my left grip.
