I don't think the gps is always running and it doesn't say anything about dataconnection.
The fact is i've lost already 2 bikes this year. I'd like to keep my new bike for a while... :-( |

Yes. Just about every 'smart phone' on the market, regardless of the brand or operating system, requires a data plan on top of basic voice service. That's why I use my laptop for VoiP and texting as much as possible and save the airtime on my Tracfone.
But back to the previous question, yes we pay to receive texts and phone calls unlike other countries; it is arguable more fair this way, have the cost of the call split between the 2 service providers. Or is cell phone service simply free in your country? |
Not going to happen for me. I would need a chip planted in the bike that would give me the location of the bike via phone or computer. Kinda of like the chip for dogs.

I don't think there is such an implanted chip for dogs. something they wear on their collar yes - but not implanted. |

And, as Robble points out, (as far as I know) they only implant RFID chips in dogs, GPS trackers are put on the collar. |

Then you're wasting your time looking for a phone app. Invest in multiple types of high quality locks, use them properly, and hope for the best- realistically, that's all any of us could do.
Here's an interview of a thief (it's in Italian but you can use google translate): http://life.wired.it/news/mobilita/2...iciclette.html I bought again a kryptonite but my only hope now is Bike anti-theft because now I know i can't relay on the lock. |
I suggest a folding bike and take it inside with you..
IDK is there a RFI chip on the bike, like LOJACK? a bike stripper makes that a moot piece.. |
